The Covenant Church Program supports Habitat for Humanity's goal to eliminate poverty housing throughout the world and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. The program shapes the commitment between the local church or parish and Habitat for Humanity, forming a partnership to build simple, decent houses with those in need. Habitat hopes to build new relationships and a sense of community as well as new houses. What commitments must a covenant church make? Each Habitat for Humanity Church is required to provide financial and prayer support. Beyond that, each congregation determines its own form of commitment, appropriate to its particular situation. How does Habitat's Covenant Church Program benefit churches?

QUICK NEWS
Streamlined Renewal process - The Awana renewal process has been simplified for your convenience. Pastors will no longer need to sign the Awana Ministry Agreement each year to renew your church’s registration. Once the pastor has signed the initial registration form, Awana keeps that signature on file as a record of consent to the terms of the Ministry Agreement. Your church must merely send a check to Awana for the renewal fee along with the renewal invoice to indicate that you agree in full with the Awana Ministry Agreement. Awana Mason Dixon Scholarship Camp update - The Awana Mason Dixon Scholarship Camp being held from June 26-July 3 or July 3-10 is essentially full. There is a waiting list but time is quickly running out for the few available slots left. The Camp applications are available online (requires Acrobat Reader version 5 twlennon@erols.com . We still need counsellors - if interested in having a life-changing experience and helping to make this year's scholarship camp possible, please contact Tom Cooke at (301) 482-2217 or tom.cooke@comcast.net

    The Delaware-Maryland Synod
    In the spotlight
Prayer has always been important in the life of the Delaware-Maryland Synod and its people, but an even more concerted effort has begun to develop prayer covenants and other prayer relationships. For instance, when DE-MD Synod Bishop Jerry Knoche visited our ELCA Partner Synod, the Northern Great Lakes Synod , for their assembly a week ago, he took along a Prayer Covenant which he and NGL Synod Bishop Thomas Skrenes signed publicly, committing us to ongoing prayer for one another.
