CNN's Jason Bellini, who is embedded with the U.S. 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, talked with CNN anchor Carol Costello about the fighting in Nasiriya, as well as the dramatic rescue of an American POW in a hospital there early Wednesday. BELLINI: We're in the town of Nasiriya now, and the action we saw was on our way in. The big news has been the very dramatic, very daring POW rescue. The Marines we're embedded with weren't directly involved with that, but they did play a supporting role. The bombardment that they undertook in Nasiriya at two very selected locations was designed to deter attention away from the site where they made that rescue. We know of our roots and the events and battles through the years that have brought us to the present day. However, there are several areas of our history where we tend to be less aware of the facts involved. The use of Marines to guard the U.S. mails during the 1920s, I think, is one such area. All Marines know that Marines were called upon during that era to act as mail guards; but few are aware of the specific facts of that involvement. Most books dealing with Marine Corps history touch only briefly upon this subject. This might lead the reader to believe that this was only a minor incident, but that is far from the truth. The facts are that after a series of mail robberies resulting in murder, mayhem, and losses in the millions of dollars, beginning in 1921 (thru 1922), and again in 1926 (thru 1927), the Marine Corps was requested by the Post Office Department to assist in the protection of the U.S. mails, guarding mail trains and trucks, post offices, etc. Though the overall duration of the Marines' involvement spanned only a few months, thousands of Marines were detailed, and it encompassed the entire length and breadth of the United States as well. Genesis of an Army Introducing Chaplain Tyrus After having looked at my army lists again, I've come to realise that the Klingon-inspired names for my characters sucked. So I've taken the easy option and gone for GW Latin-style names. This means that Chaplain Grabthar no longer features in the army, but he's not forgotten as the URL to this site, and the back story of Chaplain Tyrus proves. En effet depuis de nombreuses années déjà j'aimais regarder vivre les poissons et observer la faune fixée. Quelques années après j' ai acquis un boîtier étanche qui était prévu pour mon appareil photo Konica C35 : il s'agissait d'un appareil compact semi-automatique avec priorité au diaphragme, avec règlage de la distance de 1m à l'infini. Le flash était un flash à ampoules au magnésium. Le Konica a fini par tomber en panne après de nombreuses années de bons et loyaux services.

Mangan The Marines, who were in Korea for III Marine Expeditionary Force's Korea Incremental Training Program 1-02, were the first United States unit to participate in this annual Littoral Amphibious Exercise simulating a Combined Arms river crossing against a hostile shore. Double Dragon differs from classic amphibious operations in that it often involves shore-to-shore movement. Both the III MEF commander, Lt. Gen. Wallace C. Gregson, and the ROK Marine Commandant, Lt. Gen. Myong-hwan Kim, attended the exercise, as did military and naval attach? observers from 22 countries. They were quickly in action, with the Pentagon confirming reports Monday afternoon that U.S. helicopter gunships attacked an armored column near the airstrip they control. "They are not an occupying force," Rumsfeld said. "Their purpose is to establish a forward base of operations to help pressure the Taliban forces in Afghanistan, to prevent Taliban and al Qaeda terrorists from moving freely about the country." Rumsfeld said the base they have established could be used for humanitarian operations or for special operations troops, but won't necessarily be used to put more U.S. ground troops into Afghanistan.
