Huskie Marching Band
"The Pride of the Midwest" One-hundred and four years ago, fourteen men at the Northern Illinois State Normal School, under the direction of Mr. Calvin Dart, gathered with their horns and drums in hand to form what we now know as the Northern Illinois University Huskie Marching Band . The spirit and legacy of these first fourteen musicians no doubt embodied the same pride we feel today in our band. The Huskie Marching Band of today is committed to the ideals of entertainment, service, and education. Northern's marching band, as it continues in its second century, is entrusted with a 104-year legacy which defines collegiate life in DeKalb, provides unrelenting support of Huskie Football, and sets forth a proving ground for future school band directors. The Huskie Marching Band has developed a tradition to earn the respect of football audiences throughout the midwestern United States. The band has earned and continues to prove itself worthy to its title: The Pride of the Midwest . It is our goal to perform at such a high level that the reputation earned by those before us may be passed on to those who follow. A tradition of excellence is never inherited, but earned.

The Official
Erie Central High School Marching Band
Website 'Take the field' It's the phrase all bands wait for. It's the judge's way of saying it's your turn to perform . You're anxious, nervous, almost sick with excitement and just plain scared. But you do your best . You try to remember everything you've learned and practiced over the last several months. Sometimes it's raining, and the field is so muddy you lose your shoes. You have to pretend you don't notice . Sometimes it's snowing , and you're so cold it's hard to hold onto your instrument or mallets or twirl your flag or baton. You can see your breath, but it doesn't matter, you just keep marching and playing It's all a part of the game the competition, and when it's over, you laugh and cheer and cry It's a commitment you make with lots and lots of pride Pride in yourself , your band and your achievement. And THAT is what it's all about. Author unknown. Found in an old program book.
The Central Band is located in Erie, Pennsylvania. Throughout the year, the Central Band performs in many competitions and parades in the Erie and tri-state area. Come visit the Erie Central Band's Yahoo! Club!
