Interpretive Display The sundial has many images with great significance to our community. In order for visitors to better appreciate the sundial, interpretive signage was required. Through funding assistance from Manitoba Culture, Heritage and Tourism as well as assistance from the LGD of Pinawa, AECL Underground Research Laboratory (URL), AECL Whiteshell Laboratories and numerous volunteers, an impressive interpretive display was constructed in 2003. The interpretive display consists of seven polished granite tablets, each one 2 feet wide and 3 feet tall. The tablets are mounted on a concrete display located at the north end of the sundial. The tablets give a general description of the sundial, how to use the sundial and short descriptions of the icons. In addition, with funding assistance from Manitoba Culture, Heritage and Tourism, a quantity of interpretive guides were printed and are available at the entrance to the sundial. This guide is available on this site and can be downloaded. Look for the link below.

Thank you for visiting the Access and Privacy Division pages of the Manitoba Ombudsman's Office web site. We are responsible for investigating complaints and reviewing compliance with access to information and protection of privacy rights under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA). These statutes were proclaimed in May 1998 and December 1997 respectively. FIPPA replaced The Freedom of Information Act that had been in force since September 1988. PHIA is pioneering legislation in Canada dealing with access to and the protection of personal health information. If you are unfamiliar with access and privacy legislation in general, a good place to start on this web site is with the Principles of Access and Privacy Legislation underlying both FIPPA and PHIA. Our pages include information specific to either FIPPA or PHIA such as summaries of parts of the Acts, news releases and various other documents in the

The Players - Our Community's Contribution to Sport
The Players Draws Rave Reviews
Over 1,500 Visitors to date (Sept 1999)
"The exhibit contains some fascinating tangible remembrances of ... athletes and sporting events." - Winnipeg Free Press "[A] most worthwhile exhibit, which illustrates a significant component of Jewish life dating back to the late 1800s. ... Those were the days, my friend, when I'd snatch a five-cent package of seeds off the rack at my dad's store on Salter and Pritchard, and meander over to Aberdeen School to watch a double header. ... Pay a visit." - Harvey Rosen, the Jewish Post and News. "The Players celebrates Winnipeg's Jewish sports heritage ..." - the Winnipeg Sun. When the idea was first tossed around, there were a lot of sceptics. An exhibit on Winnipeg's Jewish sports history? A museum is not for sports. And is there enough material? Would it draw people in? But we built it. And they came. In record numbers. Exhibition Dates Extended
The Jewish Heritage Centre is pleased to announce that its first in-house curated exhibit - The Players: Our Community's Contribution to Sport has been an overwhelming success. Since its June 3 opening, over 1,500 people have visited the exhibit, including people whose stories, artifacts or photos are featured.
