S EMPER R EFORMANDA
A Journal for Lutheran Reformation
The Presentation of our Lord, A.D. Ecclesia semper reformanda est. (The Church always needs to be reformed.) SEMPER REFORMANDA exists to forward this ancient axiom. The Lutheran Reformation began when Martin Luther posted the 95 theses on the church door in Wittenberg. It will never be completed. As long as she remains the Church Militant, sin and error will continue to fuel her need for reform. She must continually return to the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets found in the Book of Concord . In today's cyber-world, SR intends to be a modern forum where theses can be posted for discussion in order that the reformation of the Church may ever continue. Please send your e-mail address to the editors so you can be notified when SEMPER REFORMANDA is updated. ... or subscribe a friend:

Welcome to the Lutheran Heritage Foundation. We are a non-profit mission organization actively involved in making confessional Lutheran materials available in the languages of the people around the world. Working with hundreds of translators, reviewers and editors, we provide the resources
vital to the growth of the church.
We produce books in languages which are used in countries including the United States, as we partner with Lutheran church bodies to meet the needs of the people. The Lutheran church has a rich heritage of writings from the Reformers to modern day authors. This is the foundation for the work of the Lutheran Heritage Foundation. We primarily fund translation projects for Lutheran church bodies but also support some original Lutheran works written in foreign languages. Photo and history of this well preserved church built in 1887.

Local Historic Designated Landmark
Old Hanover Lutheran Church
Cape Girardeau, Missouri Old Hanover Lutheran Church
This well preserved church was built in 1887. The adjoining school building was built in 1923. Both brick structures are good representative examples of Missouri vernacular institutional buildings. They exhibit the high quality of craftsmanship and conservative design traditions associated with Missouri German immigrants. The church served its congregation from 1887 to 1969. As early as 1838, Lutherans living north of Cape Girardeau, mostly immigrants from the Hanover region of Germany, gathered in private homes and in the carpentry shop of Daniel Bertling to worship. Needing a real church building, Bertling donated land for the first church edifice in 1846. The brick church was constructed in 1887 by William Regenhardt, a Cape Girardeau builder. The brick came from a brickyard at Broadway and Louisiana streets. Local stonemasons faced the foundation with large sandstone blocks from outcroppings on the William Koerber farm. The church was dedicated in September 1887. One hundred years after the church was dedicated, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

What do Lutherans believe? Central to every Lutheran's belief is that God loves and forgives us through Jesus Christ. We can't earn God's love and forgiveness. Love and forgiveness are free gifts from God which we enjoy, and for which we offer our gratitude.
The Bible is a valuable resource for understanding God's intention for us.
