Living Landscapes was created by the Royal British Columbia Museum as a regional outreach program involving intensive cooperation with other museums, First Nations, educators, naturalists, and other agencies. Our goal is to encourage and facilitate the exploration and appreciation of the human and natural history of British Columbia from regional perspectives. We approach this goal through a two-year focus on a particular region of B.C. and integrating stories and research locally generated with both research knowledge and descriptive information from the collections and curatorial staff at the Royal British Columbia Museum. museums Museums Museums in Walldürn and its surroundings A living museum of history in the Odenwald Homepage of the FLM This museum in Gottersdorf, a part of Walldürn, is the farthest one north in Baden-Württemberg. It is located in a marvellous countryside next to a lake on the grounds of a former 14th century monastery. This living museum of history gives the visitor fascinating insights into the former way of life in a rural area. There are already 16 originally rebuilt farms - it is still to be extended - but even now visitors can discover the past. The visitor gets an impression of the daily work of farmers, craftsmen, day labourers, herdsmen and midwives in a typical rural village. He is able to receive an authentic picture of the living and working conditions in the past.
Thousands of visitors come to this idyllic museum village each year. Special attractions are the Grünkernfest in July, the day after the potato and apple harvests in September and the day the craftsmen demonstrate their trades.

about museums back to the Museums are places where you and I can go and see how our parents, grandparents and great grandparents used to live, work and play. Most museums display the things they keep (called exhibits) for you to see - but you will not be allowed to touch most of them. Many museums also have things that you can do to learn about the things that you have seen. Some museums like to display their exhibits doing what they were meant to do. These types of museums are called 'living' or 'working' museums. In a living museum you can often see, feel, smell, hear and even ride on things just as if you were alive all those years ago. We have listed some links to web-sites of both types of museum below. Click on them to see what they have to show you.
