Novel by Stephen Barnes
Friday, July 26, 2002 4:36 PM EST :: Email Author Message Boards The African American author Stephen Barnes has signed a three book deal with DelRey. Two of the books will be about pre-historic life in Africa, but the third one will be a Star Wars novel. This was reported in an interview with Cinescape . Here's an excerpt:
The third book of Barnes three-book Del Rey deal will be a STAR WARS hardcover novel. It’s a boon to the STAR WARS novel franchise to have an author of such critical magnitude contributing.
“I have long admired the world that Lucas created, and I have some great ideas that I can’t wait to explore for this novel,” says Barnes.
Tight wraps are in place on all specific plot details.

Reading Recovery. ERIC Digest. by Sensenbaugh, Roger This digest discusses elements of the Reading Recovery program, describes a typical reading recovery lesson, addresses issues of the importance of teacher education and teacher role in those lessons, reviews the existing literature in the ERIC database regarding the effectiveness of Reading Recovery, and discusses the cost effectiveness of the program. INTRODUCTION Introduced into the United States from New Zealand in the mid 1980s, Reading Recovery projects have been implemented in nearly every state. In addition, Reading Recovery is being implemented in Australia, Canada, and England. WHAT IS READING RECOVERY? Reading Recovery (Clay, 1985) offers daily half-hour one-on-one tutorial sessions for students who are having trouble learning to read after one year of formal instruction. The program is supplementary and short-term, with most students needing from 12 to 16 weeks of instruction (Pollock, 1994) before they are successfully discontinued from the program. A combination of teacher judgment and systematic evaluation procedures identify those lowest-achieving children for whom Reading Recovery was designed. The program's goal is to bring students up to the level of their peers and to give students the assistance they need to develop independent reading strategies. Once students are reading at a level equivalent to that of their peers, they are discontinued from the program.

var site="sm3sooguy" Welcome to Andy's Anachronisms a site devoted to exploring the themes of time travel and alternate universes in books, film, television, and popular culture in general. The following pages contain a wide variety of references, reviews and thoughts on the themes of time travel and alternate universes. The primary goal of this site is to celebrate the power of the human imagination and our ability to use the simple premise of being able to travel in time to entertain each other. While the scientific arguments for and against time travel are fascinating areas for discussion they are not the focus of this site. This site has evolved out of my life long fascination with all things related to time and time travel. I hope that in sharing my collection of references and reviews that other like-minded souls will benefit from this site and that in turn you, the visitor may provide me with new references and insight. Enjoy your visit.
