Liechtenstein Small country, big offer!
Liechtenstein is full of life! There are plenty of attractions for all tastes:
Museums, banks, boutiques, family entertainment, ski resorts, historical sites, sport facilities, vineyards etc.
Vaduz Castle, situated on a rock formation above the capital, dominates the city of Vaduz and offers a wonderful view of the Rhine Valley. Also recommended are visits to the State Art Collection, the National Museum, the Postage Stamp Museum and the Ski Museum. There are also Liechtenstein wines to be tasted and the local cuisine to be tried out in historical and traditional restaurants. Winter sports in Liechtenstein are concentrated in two areas, Malbun (1600 above sea-level) and Steg (1300 above sea-level). In Malbun, there are two chair lifts, four ski lifts, one toboggan run and a well- maintained network of footpaths. A loipe, 10.5 km long, has been laid out for cross-country skiing enthusiasts and includes an oval area, 1.7 km long, which is illuminated for use at night. A toboggan run of 1 km in length from the Suecka restaurant in Steg is likewise equipped with lighting.

Information about Liechtenstein
Liechtenstein is one of the smaller, lesser known countries in Europe, but their proximity to the Alps makes it a hidden jewel for skiing.
Covering only 62.4 square miles and with a population of 32,000 people, it is a wonder the small European country of Liechtenstein even exists. But the principality has carved out a humble spot for itself on the European map since 1719, and offers a treat for tourists who are game for a diversion. bodyOffer(32412) Liechtenstein is a small strip of earth wedged between Austria and Switzerland. The country is almost an extension of their Swiss neighbors as Liechtensteiners use the Swiss airport, the Swiss currency and official Swiss travel documents. The border between Liechtenstein and Switzerland is also open. Amicable relations between Liechtenstein and Switzerland have endured throughout the formers history. The Liechtenstein family of Austria founded Liechtenstein when the two provinces of Vaduz and Schellenberg merged. By 1719 the Holy Roman Empire granted Liechtenstein the status of an independent principality. Given her small size, the young country felt threatened by her more powerful neighbors. Their fears were realized when Napoleon eventually conquered the nation. Liechtenstein's vanquished state didnt last long and her independence was restored by 1815 with Napoleons demise. To avoid another aggressive takeover, Liechtenstein moved toward neutrality much like the Swiss. For a time, Liechtenstein allowed Switzerland to guide her foreign affairs. Liechtenstein's neutrality was respected throughout World War I and World War II.

    The Prince Hans Adam II
His Serene Highness Prince Hans-Adam II was born on 14 February 1945, as the eldest son of His Serene Highness Prince Franz Josef II von und zu Liechtenstein and Her Serene Highness Princess Gina. The name Hans-Adam forms an apt link between history and the present day, for Ruling Prince Hans-Adam of Liechtenstein was the founder of the State through his purchases of the Lordship of Schellenberg (1699) and the County of Vaduz (1712).
Hans-Adam spent his youth with his parents and brothers and sister at Vaduz Castle. He attended the primary school in Vaduz along with the local children of his age and he also joined the Vaduz scouts.
In 1972 His Serene Highness the Ruling Prince Franz Josef issued a general power of attorney entrusting the Hereditary Prince Hans-Adam with the management and administration of the whole of the Princely House's property. Since then, with his profound experience, the Hereditary Prince has run the finances of the House with tremendous success.
According to the Constitution of the Principality of Liechtenstein, the Prince is the Head of State and exercises his sovereign authority in conformity with the provisions of the Constitution.
