Who We Are
INTRODUCTION The Fred J. Reynolds Historical Genealogy Department of the Allen County Public Library was organized in 1961 by the library director for whom it was named. The department's renowned collection contains more than 300,000 printed volumes and 314,000 items of microfilm and microfiche. This collection grows daily through department purchases and donations from appreciative genealogists and historians. Because of the collection's size and continuous growth, the information in the following holdings summary will necessarily be brief and representative in nature. It is designed to showcase the unique and vital roles played by public, school, academic and special libraries worldwide. The Campaign for the World's Libraries was officially launched in August 2001 during the IFLA Council and General Conference in Boston, Massachusetts.
