Mr. Wood is the managing partner for the firm's Charlottesville office. His practice spans management-side labor and employment law, education law, commercial and professional liability litigation. A significant portion of his practice involves the defense of "target defendants," such as large corporations, financial institutions, public bodies and insurance companies. He regularly counsels corporate clients on regulatory compliance and traditional labor issues. He conducts training on staying non-union, and handles union campaigns, contract negotiations, and labor disputes. Mr. Wood has also successfully tried a large number of cases in state and federal courts, and has handled numerous administrative hearings. The breadth of his practice makes him a valuable advisor to CEO's, plant managers and human resource professionals on a wide range of legal and strategic issues. Additionally, Mr. Wood is a highly regarded lecturer and author. He regularly speaks at annual meetings of the National School Boards Association and the Education Law Association. He has taught legal ethics for the Professionalism Course of the Virginia State Bar, teaches Trial Advocacy at the University of Virginia School of Law, and is on the faculty of the National Institute on Trial Advocacy. | |
