http://www.voteutah.org/learning/government/three_branches.html
Three Branches of Government Legislative Branch Executive Branch Judicial Branch It was important to the men who wrote the Constitution that they form a government that did not allow one person to have too much control. While under the rule of the British king they learned that this could be a bad system. Yet government under the Articles of Confederation taught them that there was a need for a strong centralized government. With this in mind, the framers wrote the Constitution to provide for three separate , but equally powerful, branches of government: the Legislative Branch (which writes the laws); the Executive Branch (which carries out the laws); and the Judicial Branch (which reviews the way laws are applied). The separation of powers allows for a system of checks and balances within the government. Each branch is given certain control over the other two, which balances the power and keeps the potential for abuse of power in check. Check out the lyrics and listen to part of the SchoolHouse Rock song which describes our three branches of government.

The central bank is taking tough action
    By Moazzem Hossain
BBC correspondent in Dhaka The central bank in Bangladesh has disclosed a plan to close down 500 branches of state owned commercial banks which were incurring losses over the last five years. Dr Ahmad has identified 800 unprofitable banks
The decision came in the backdrop of growing pressure from the World Bank and other multilateral agencies to speed up reform in the banking sector. World Bank officials say the country's bad debt and inefficient surplus workforce were the two main problems that crippled its nationalised commercial banks. Bangladesh's state owned commercial banks have been facing a tough time since private sector and foreign banks entered the market with an efficient work-force to offer better service. Six state owned commercial banks have a network of 5,000 branches throughout the country, but unplanned expansion of the network has led to inefficiency and huge losses.

Personal loans, home loans and new accounts were all handled in the branch, along with account balancing, handling of cash deposits and the fight against cheque fraud and money laundering . Today, most of that responsibility has been removed from the branches and now resides in processing centres, monitoring systems and at head office, where risk tolerance is decided.

This course explores the powers and processes of administrative agencies in our governmental system, paying particular attention to why and how administrative agencies came to secure such a prominent place in our political, legal and constitutional landscape. It further explores the relationship administrative agencies have with the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government, and how these three branches of government, both formally and informally, limit and affect administrative agency policy and activity. In exploring these issues, particular emphasis will be placed on agencies and processes that affect the health care industry.
