Contact Info CLAIS Home Page Established in 1947, Vanderbilt's Center for Latin American and Iberian Studies is the oldest and strongest interdisciplinary program on campus. It is dedicated to advancing scholarly and applied knowledge about Latin America and Iberia through teaching, research, publication, scholarly exchange, and community outreach. The Center draws upon renowned Vanderbilt faculty from the Department of Anthropology Economics Art and Art History History ... Sociology , and Spanish and Portuguese and offers a broad-based, interdisciplinary education, promoting study abroad in Latin America and Spain. It maintains an interactive research community by sponsoring faculty colloquia, receptions and conferences, and a speakers series which brings distinguished scholars, government and business leaders, and social activists to campus. CLAIS also publishes a bi-annual newsletter. Our undergraduate program is ranked eighth in the nation by the Gourman Report and students may participate in an honors program and study abroad programs in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, the Dominican Republic, or Spain. | |
