Experience of working with students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds from all over the world, for more than 20 years, has provided us with great understanding and sensitivity of individual needs and aspirations.
The last two decades have shown our commitment to excellence in education. ELC is accredited by the British Council and is also a full member of ARELS and English UK , your guarantee of quality assurance. In 1999, staff at ELC were proud to be awarded Investor in People Status , a British Government Standard which promotes and recognises continuing professional development and high standards in management and staff.
For students who really want to improve their level of English in the shortest possible time, the most effective way is undoubtedly to learn in the country where the language is spoken. A course in England with ELC offers precisely that.

162. Delegates In Visual J++ 6.0
Microsoft Visual J++ 6.0 introduces a new language feature delegates. Delegates enable scenarios that other languages C++, Pascal, Modula, and others - have addressed with function pointers. Unlike function pointers, delegates are object-oriented, type-safe, and secure. (Microsoft)

Delegates in Visual J++ 6.0
An interesting and useful property of a delegate is that it does not know or care about the class of the object that it references. Any object will do; all that matters is that the method's signature matches the delegate's. This makes delegates perfectly suited for "anonymous" invocation. This is a powerful capability.
1.1 Overview of delegates
A brief overview serves as a better introduction to this feature than a detailed language specification. There are three steps in defining and using delegates: declaration, instantiation, and invocation.
1.1.1 Declaring a delegate
Delegates are declared using Visual J++ delegate declaration syntax, which can appear in the same places in code as class declarations. When compiled, a delegate declaration results in a class that extends either com.ms.lang.Delegate

"During my placement year at Aston University I worked at Yves Saint Laurent in Paris where I taught English and carried out translations for the company's legal, marketing and finance departments. This opportunity enabled me to gain valuable insight into the operation of an international company whilst also improving my understanding of the French language and culture which complemented the European Studies side of my degree. Since graduation, I have been working at Advantage West Midlands, the Regional Development Agency, as European Policy Officer. I work on all areas of European policy affecting the Agency. This often involves liaising with partner organisations and groups in the region. I am currently working with partners to develop a West Midlands European Strategic Framework on behalf of the Regional Assembly's European and International Policy Forum. The Framework will identify short and longer-term European priorities for the West Midlands."

Suomalais-ugrilaiset kielet
What are they?
The Finno-Ugrian or Uralic language family includes a group of languages (mainly) in northern Eurasia. (According to the traditional terminology, Uralic means both main branches of the language family, the Finno-Ugrian and the Samoyedic languages , but some colleagues use "Finno-Ugrian" as a synonym for "Uralic".) The greatest Finno-Ugrian languages are Hungarian (ca. 14 million speakers), Finnish (ca. 5 million) and Estonian (1 million). Other Finno-Ugrian languages are smaller, practically all of them more or less endangered List of Finno-Ugrian languages and speaker statistics. Some hypotheses have been made concerning the possible genetic relationship between Uralic and other language families (Altaic, Indo-European or even Basque, for example), but Finnish Uralicists at least take a very reserved attitude towards them.
What are they like?
Some obvious characteristics of the Finno-Ugrian languages:
  • basic vocabulary (maybe ca. 100-150 Uralic word stems, e.g. Finnish 'to live'

Entries refer to books, articles, conference papers and lectures, and are classified in searchable formats: there is an alphabetical index of authors, as well as a chronological index, a geographical index, and a topical index. Mostly the bibliography refers to texts in English and German (Blaschke is writing a dissertation about rape in Weimar Germany), but there are also references to Danish, Dutch, French, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish titles. The site would be useful to those studying violence in literature, as well as to students of gender studies, history, and law. (Lucy Valerie Graham) http://www.humbul.ac.uk/output/full2.php?id=11915
