What is the Funland? The Linguistic Funland was created in 1994 as a list of various linguistics links on a personal homepage. Then a graduate student in linguistics, the author began to accumulate a list of resources that soon grew out of a single page and into this directory. Here at the Funland, you'll find resources for language teaching and learning, linguistics study, and other miscellaneous resources. If you have a language or linguistics-related site, why not submit it for inclusion! This page maintained by Kristina Pfaff-Harris kristina@linguistic-funland.com

Your Home for Web-Based Foreign Language Instructional Resources ABOUT THIS SITE NEW THIS MONTH The aim of these pages is to illustrate creative pedagogical uses of the Web and Internet technologies that can be adapted to the teaching of any foreign language. The focus here is on showing the beginning web user how to create and incorporate web resources for teaching a foreign language. To take advantage of these resources it is assumed that you know how to use a web browser, how to set it up to read text in the language of your interest, and how to type text in that language. If you have never written a web page with HTML you should read the article Reading and Writing Basic HTML before you read any of the other articles and tutorials. Read the Forms tutorial if you have never written a HTML form. The difficulty level of each article is rated on a scale of 1 - 5. Level 1 difficulty assumes that you can read and understand basic HTML tags.

This book, written in French is for language teachers working in France. A Developmental Perspective on Technology in Language Education
    by Mark Warschauer
    http://www.gse.uci.edu/markw/developmental.html

Abstract: Is technology a tool for language learning, or is language learning a tool so that people can access technology? This paper suggests that both language and technology are tools for individual and societal development. The paper introduces a developmental approach to integrating technology in language education, based on consideration of both product and process. It then illustrates these concepts through analysis of a large US-funded English language developmental program in Egypt. Two projects are examined: a teacher education program on computers in English language teaching and a basic English methodology course taught via video-conferencing. The analysis indicates that a developmental approach is critical to successful integration and use of technology in language education programs.
