I'm considered to be one of the very best color printers alive today and one of a scant handful of artists still making dye transfer prints. What are dye transfer prints and why are they so special? Dye transfers are to ordinary color prints as, well, a fine stereo system is to a $10 transistor radio. Dye transfer prints have incomparable beauty, extraordinary fidelity, and unusual longevity. Plants are important to the microclimate because they absorb heat from the air during the transpiration process (release of water in the form of vapor), provide shade that reduces solar radiation and reflection, lower wind speed, disperse fog, and influence snow deposition. Businesses have noted that attractively landscaped buildings result in above average labor productivity, lower absenteeism and easier worker recruitment. Studies have indicated people have a basic desire for contact with plants. Satisfying this need can have a strong positive influence on human behavior. Hospital rehabilitation therapists are aware of this fact and increasingly include gardening in their programs. NEW "Yellow Aspens" "All Dogwoods Go To Heaven" This image was taken in Yosemite Valley in the Fall of 1998, around mid-October, in the morning right after the wind and rain stopped. It was an unusually wet year, and there are still leaves on this tree. It rained the four days I was there, culminating in first snow atop Halfdome. The Dogwood and Ponderosa Pine are saturated with water, producing those deep chestnut browns in the branches, and deep orange color in the leaves. I go back to this spot every year, and it hasn't had the same candyland look since. You can see the granite cliffs in the background in mist along with the Jeffrey pines, and maples. Taken with a 4x5" Wisner Technical View Camera, with Schneider 110mmXL lens, f22, Fuji Velvia pushed +1, metered on leaves on ground.

Ms. Brody developed a style of mixed media painting that she has expanded upon throughout the years. The bulk of her work incorporates the combination of photo images with oil paints to create a surreal impression. The photos are often used out of context for their visual texture, and it is only upon closer inspection that the viewer begins to discover that what appears to be recognizable is actually something else entirely. The most recent pieces utilize three dimensional materials including fifty year old copper and slate from old rooftops. The works have a psychological essence in many cases, and the artist decided to delve more deeply into this aspect of her interest becoming a licensed psychotherapist in 1994.
