Also, part of our mission is the effective administration and enforcement of the employment agency laws in Massachusetts; the issuance of prevailing wage schedules for many public works projects; the promulgation and interpretation of the state's minimum wage regulations; and the issuance of minimum wage, seasonal business overtime, and uniform deposit waivers. In doing so, we employ several approaches:
  • We enforce certain laws, such as in the areas of lead paint and asbestos abatement, for the protection of workers, the general public and the environment. We provide consultation services to employers who seek compliance assistance with safety and health laws.

H1-b Disclosure Info The Department is required to provide a list of those employers who have submitted Labor Condition Applications. This search page allows you to view the H1-b Labor Certification Database. In the past the LCA information in this database has been stored in many different files. We have tried to compile all these files together into the newest format (online LCA filing) and have attempted to clean up major OCR errors caused by the faxing and scanning process. Because of the different file formats involved you will find sections of the database with several empty data fields. Data is currently available for certifications completed between 10/01/2000 and 9/30/2003. Similar data for the Permanent Visa program is available by clicking here
If you have a fast internet connection you can download the entire H1-b disclosure database in an 90 meg. zip file by clicking

Small Business Tips Sponsors: U.S. offers tips on avoiding overtime pay New labor rules expected to take effect early this year The Associated Press Updated: 6:33 p.m. ET Jan.05, 2004 WASHINGTON - The Labor Department is giving employers tips on how to avoid paying overtime to some of the 1.3 million low-income workers who would become eligible under new rules expected to be finalized early this year. advertisement
The department's advice comes even as it touts the $895 million in increased wages that it says those workers would be guaranteed from the reforms. Among the options for employers: cut workers' hourly wages and add the overtime to equal the original salary, or raise salaries to the new $22,100 annual threshold, making them ineligible. ‘We're not saying anybody should do any of this.’

Annually, approximately 400,000 workers file initial and partial unemployment claims in local offices across the state. The division also works with approximately 108,000 employers across the state to collect premiums for unemployment insurance. Employers report wages to this division on approximately 3 million workers. Employment Security is the state's official source for employment research and statistics. The Division of Workers' Compensation works with employers and employees regarding workplace injuries and illnesses. Many Missouri employers are required by law to carry workers' compensation insurance for employees. Workers' compensation insurance provides financial assistance to workers injured on the job. The Division helps ensure that those injured workers receive appropriate medical treatment and payment of compensation for lost wages. The Division also provides prompt and equitable resolution of disputes in cases of work-related injuries and occupational diseases. Mediation services are provided to help employers and employees resolve disputes about medical treatment and lost wages. This helps prevent costly depositions or formal hearings.
