Beginning with this season, most episodes will have 3 stories one the original 11-minutes in length, and 2 shorter ones, of varying lengths, as little as 2 minutes. And of course, Canadians saw most of these episodes first on YTV. After Kimi took Cynthia from Angelica (without asking, of course) to play in her treehouse, the Rugrats imagine Angelica as if she was a monster from the jungle, a la "King Kong". Notes: 1. In Canada, this episode is the first TV appearance of Kimi, Kira, and Fifi. As for Fifi, the French poodle, she apparently became the Finster's family pet, though how it became so was never mentioned; yes, she appeared stateside at the end of Rugrats In Paris , but the situation leading up to her emigration to the states was never shown or mentioned.

Kwanzaa - What it is and how it is celebrated: (Recipes below)
Kwanzaa was started during the 1960s by Maulana Ron Karenga, founder of the Kawaida movement, as an African American holiday. Kwanzaa, which means "first fruits of the harvest" in the African language Kiswahili, is currently observed by more than 18 million people worldwide. The movement and the holiday are based on seven "principles of blackness."
1. Umoja (unity)
2. Kujichagulia (self-determination)
3. Ujima (collective work and responsibility)
4. Ujamaa (cooperative economics)
5. Nia (purpose)

Kwanzaa is neither a political or religious holiday. It is meant to be an opportunity for African American families and communities to join together to reaffirm their identity, their ancestors, their culture, and the seven principles. Kwanzaa lasts for seven days- -one for each principal. It's celebrated from December 26th to January 1st. People celebrating the holiday usually decorate their homes in the holiday colors of black, red, and green.

BY EMILY RAABE
In America, holidays illuminate our winter calendars. We light candles, gather with family and friends and share celebratory meals for Christmas, the solstice, Hanukkah and, since 1966, Kwanzaa.
Like most holidays, Kwanzaa involves family, friends and good food. It's also easy and fun for children to get involved, from cooking to making homemade gifts to taking part in nightly rituals at the evening meal. Although Kwanzaa is culturally an African-American holiday, its messages of unity, family, togetherness, creativity and strength can be incorporated into any family's cultural lexicon" 11:36 PM commercialappeal.com - Memphis, TN: Food : "Kwanzaa recipes

Yet 15 million people worldwide now circle the dates for Kwanzaa, the creation of a California college professor and African-American activist named Maulana Karenga. Kwanzaa, Swahili for "first fruits of the harvest," is a 7-day celebration of life, family, community and culture. From December 26 through January 1, African Americans give thanks for past accomplishmentsthe "fruits" of their laborpay homage to their ancestors and reaffirm the values of their African heritage. A cultural rather than a religious observance, Kwanzaa is a time of fasting, feasting and self-examination. Based on traditional harvest festivals, Kwanzaa was established in 1966 at the height of the Black Freedom Movement. Desiring Pan-African solidarity, Karenga, a Black Studies professor at California State University, Long Beach, created Kwanzaa with three purposes: to restore rootedness in African culture; to reaffirm a common identity and direction as a world community; and to introduce and reinforce the Seven Principles of unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith.

Microwave a delicious holiday meal
By ANN STEINER and CICI WILLIAMSON IN little more than a decade, the observance of Kwanzaa is rapidly gaining in popularity. It's a time when African-Americans celebrate their heritage, beginning Dec. 26 and lasting seven days. Although it has been observed for the past 31 years, it has picked up momentum in the last decade. The holiday is based on seven principles. Each evening, the celebration focuses on one of the principles, beginning with unity and ending with faith. According to Eating Well magazine, "Kwanzaa was designed as a time for introspection and a forum for reinforcing the virtues of home and community. That leaves the interpretation of these core values open to improvisation, and allows celebrants to orchestrate festivities around their individual talents." Kwanzaa is a commemoration of the first fruits of harvest. On Dec. 31, a grand feast takes place. This is a time to join with family and friends, with each person bringing a dish to share.

Founded in 1966 by graduate student Maulana Karenga in response to rioting during the Civil Rights Movement, Kwanzaa is an African-American celebration of cultural reaffirmation. The non-denominational holiday encompasses spiritual and festive rejoicing of the goodness of life and nature. Participants commemorate the past and look to the future. Kwanzaa derives its name from the Swahili phrase meaning "first fruits of the harvest". The holiday lasts for seven days, from December 26th to January 1st , and is guided by seven principles known as Nguzo Saba . The Kwanzaa Karumu , a traditional communal feast, is held on the final day of the holiday. Cultural ceremonies and entertainment accompany the feast, which is decoratively presented family-style.

Time Required: 45 minutes
Materials: chalk, blackboard space, My First Kwanzaa Book by Deborah M. Newton, a Kwanzaa portfolio booklet for every student
Objectives: The students will be able to:
write something they like about their holiday on the board.
orally share ideas before, during, and after the reading of the book.
write one paragraph on what they think Kwanzaa is.
Pre-Lesson: The teacher will tell the students to close their eyes. The teacher will say the following: "Think of a holiday where all of your family gets together and you eat, visit, and maybe exchange gifts. You wake up on that morning and smell a turkey in the oven, and fresh pumpkin pie. You rush downstairs to see gifts wrapped in colorful paper. Pretty soon, your relatives start to come: grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. You have a big meal and your stomach so full you can barely move. Later you play games with your family, visit, and perhaps sing songs." The teacher will tell the students to open their eyes. The teacher will ask the students what holiday they were thinking of. Students will probably respond with "Christmas." The teacher will ask, if anyone celebrates a different holiday instead of Christmas around the same time of year. Hanukah or other such holidays may be mentioned.
