I have built a cluster rocket (a modified Estes Shadow ) that can hold up to 5 engines, with a total impulse in the lower range of F. I have also built my first true high power rocket, . This 46-inch-tall, 4-inch-diameter rocket has an auto-winding 35 mm camera in the payload bay and a 29 mm engine mount. It has been flown numerous times on F-motors: Aerotech single-use F25-4W and F50-4T, Aerotech F40-4W RMS; and NCR F62-4 and F62-6 Dark Stars. Y2K for Kids ou've probably heard people talking about "Y2K" at home or on the news. You may have wondered what it meant. Y2K is shorthand for Year 2000 and is most often used when people talk about the Year 2000 computer problem. What exactly is the problem? Back in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s - when computers were first built - the people who designed the programs that make computers run used only two numbers instead of four to indicate the year. For example, 1998 was 98, and 1927 was 27. They did this to save computer space and money. Out of habit, many computer programmers continued to use two numbers instead of four in the 1980s and even in the 1990s. o now, with the year 2000 just months away, this computer "short cut" will make computers think the year 2000 is really the year 1900! The Y2K computer problem is found in computers around the world. Many small computers, called microprocessors or computer chips, run machines, such as your VCR and the elevators in our office buildings. Thousands of people have been hired to work on the problem in the government, in the places you shop, in the companies that give you water, heat, and power, and in your schools. The federal government has been working on fixing its Y2K computer problem since 1989. No one is sure how big the problem is, but everyone agrees that most of it can be fixed by the year 2000. As the year comes to a close and conversations about Y2K grow, children can't help but be aware that adults have concerned. Los Angeles-based writer Janine Patrick decided to make Y2K seem less scary to kids with her original poem, The Wytookie.

They are the lure and the fear, the bait and the trap, a measure of how far decent social behavior has gone down the tubes, of how a morally corrupt liberal social agenda has replaced God-fearing purity. Whether the issue is sex education, the banning of pornography, condom distribution in schools, or the specter of day-care centers overrun by ritual satanic abusers, the linkage of kids and sex is sure to make headlines, tempers boil, and, unfortunately, bad social policy. But there are plenty of situations where the linkage of kids and sex raises scarcely an eyebrow on the right or the left. Think of those numerous ads in the New York Times Magazine that feature pubescent boys and girls in scanty, sexy summer clothes by Calvin Klein or Gap. Think of TV soap advertising (particularly Ivory) that depict daddies and children frolicking naked in the bathtub. Or the Fruit of the Loom ad featuring a drop-dead hunk of a dad and his 6-year-old son walking hand-in-hand in their undies to take a morning leak together.
