Kids Links Plus Tips for Internet Safety and MORE ~ A Collection of Safe URLs by Shearologist
PARENTS READ THIS ... BEFORE ALLOWING YOUR KIDS TO LOG ONLINE
Create 2 Folders in your Favorites for your child. Name one as Your child's name here- SAFER ZONES and place in that folder links to websites which do not contain PM's, IM's, Whispers, as well as any links to websites containing access to emails. See the section below labeled safe for some great bookmarks suitable for Folder #1. Instruct your child to only visit sites contained in this folder during times while they are online while you are not present at the computer to supervise them. ...... Keep them safer.
Create a second folder in your Favorites. Label the folder DANGER ZONES. Put any other URL's which access children's websites, but that contain IM's, PM's, and Whispers, as well as any which allow access to email into this folder. Instruct your child to NEVER click these URL's unless you are at that computer in the flesh watching while they surf. Explain that a penalty of disabling their access to ALL online activities indefinitly will be enforced if they do not comply with the rules of this Favorites folder. ......Keep them safer.
Rule #1 :
She is not allowed to enter chat or anyplace on the web where IM's , PM's, or Whispers exist without me looking over her shoulder while she is online.

Being online can be a great experience for your kids, offering education, entertainment and, especially, interaction. Please remember, though, that only you can decide what's suitable for your children, and that you take on an additional responsibility when allowing them to go online. Prodigy believes that parents should supervise their children's online activities and suggests that they consider using parental control tools available from Prodigy, such as Cyber Patrol, or other software that can help provide a child-friendly online environment. Cyber Patrol allows you to restrict access according to time of day, content or type of feature (ie. chat). (Cyber Patrol is available off of our Enhancements and Upgrades site.) The Internet Explorer browser also allows you to filter content. (Go to its Help Topics menu at the top of the screen and type in Filtering Web sites for information.)
