ur Early Education investments focus on quality early education and parent and family support initiatives. The majority of our funding goes to programs and initiatives in the greater Kansas City area, and in the states of Kansas and Missouri.
    Programs and Partnerships...
School Readiness We invest in efforts to improve the quality of early education programs through professional development of early education teachers and improving overall quality of center- and home-based programs through national accreditation efforts. We are working to increase the accountability of early education programs through research in order to track school readiness indicators among children entering kindergarten We are pursuing strategies to build the public will and to advocate for the financing and sustainability of quality programs.
The Collaborative's purpose is to design and implement strategic public education strategies aimed at creating the public will in each of the target states to expand both the supply and the quality of early care and education resources. Further, the Collaborative will share "lessons learned" on this unique partnership with the broader child care community.
The Fern Webster Professional Development Fund has four components: individual scholarships for early education teachers pursuing a degree; a Higher Education Consortium designed to ease the transfer of college credits among higher education institutions; a Center Director's Institute to provide professional development for directors of child care centers; and funds to advocate for greater support of early education programs.
