The Pittsburg, Frontenac, Arma, and Cherokee school districts are committed to excellence, offering innovative educational programs that challenge students to meet and often exceed state and national requirements. Several successful school bonds have paved the way for county-wide renovation of schools. Pittsburg USD 250 has already renovated Westside and George Nettels Elementary Schools, as well as constructing a new Meadowlark Elementary School. Lakeside Elementary and Pittsburg Middle School will be completely renovated during the coming school year to complete the $24 million project. Arma USD 246 is completing a $4.3 million addition which will add six classrooms and a 4-yr-old at-risk preschool to the elementary school. A gym, stage, weight room, locker room facilities and music room will be added to Northeast High School. Frontenac USD 249 will add four new kindergarten and first grade classrooms to the elementary schools, completing the renovation by the fall of 2004. The District also plans to implement an everyday math program for grades K-5.
