EDUCATION Education Mission
The goal of synagogue education is to provide knowledge and understanding of Judaism, as a means of encouraging religious devotion and dedication to living a Jewish Life.
Synagogue education is a lifelong process, and programming must be provided for all ages: pre-school through adulthood.
Synagogue education should be pervasive, striving to integrate all members of the Temple family.
Current Programs - Religious School
The Temple Beth El Religious School is currently staffed by an Education Director, sixteen teachers, tutors, teenage classroom aides and a secretary. A volunteer board of education sets school policies, oversees the educational process and participates in the management and operation of the school. Parents actively participate in school programming.
The faculty is drawn from the surrounding community. Many are certified public school teachers, while others have a strong desire to work with children. Teachers participate in staff development activities and are encouraged to share ideas and work in teams on each grade level. Monthly faculty meetings are held to discuss school-wide issues and programming.
The purpose of the Temple Beth El Religious School, nursery school through grade seven is to impart the Jewish way of life to the children and their families. The children should understand, appreciate and affirm the following:

She thought the twenty songs she'd culled - ranging from the Bible and 13th-century Safed to Nineties Tel Aviv - deserved something more dignified. So Ofir packed the two discs into a book format, with reproductions of works by the late Israeli artist Avraham Ofek facing each of the song texts, most of which were originally poems. In keeping with the album's spare vision of the Eretz Yisrael (The Land of Israel) genre, the result is a cloth-bound musical disc cum poetry/art book, aesthetically rich, but not coffee-table-book heavy.

For more information, send e-mail to permissions@pupress.princeton.edu This file is also available in Adobe Acrobat PDF format Introduction IN THE FIRST comprehensive effort to describe the emergence of Anglo-Jewish thought in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, this book introduces the work of a dozen or so hitherto neglected Jewish thinkers who lived and worked in England during the era of the Enlightenment and who articulated their own Jewish identities through a lively encounter with English intellectual and religious currents of their day. As such, it offers a contribution to the history of Jewish culture in England and to Jewish thought during the Enlightenment. By introducing this new portrait, however, this work aspires to do more: to reconsider the formative beginnings of modern European Jewish culture in general. It seeks to challenge the conventional ways of thinking about the first modern encounters between Jewish and European culture both on English soil and on the European continent as a whole. Its initial point of departure is the new emphasis among several historians who have recently questioned the long-standing assumption that the beginnings of modern Jewish consciousness are to be located exclusively in Germany within the circle of the Jewish philosopher Moses Mendelssohn and his disciples (generally called the

The methods included promoting mass Jewish immigration and acquiring tracts of land that would become the inalienable property of the Jewish people. Conclusion
    Historical Background
The Zionist movement arose in late nineteenth-century Europe, influenced by the nationalist ferment sweeping that continent. Zionism acquired its particular focus from the ancient Jewish longing for the return to Zion and received a strong impetus from the increasingly intolerable conditions facing the large Jewish community in tsarist Russia. The movement also developed at the time of major European territorial acquisitions in Asia and Africa and benefited from the European powers' competition for influence in the shrinking Ottoman Empire.

Posted on AUGUST-13-2001 By Ann M. Lesch The Zionist movement has maintained a striking continuity in its aims and methods over the past century. From the start, the movement sought to achieve a Jewish majority in Palestine and to establish a Jewish state on as much of the LAND as possible. The methods included promoting both mass Jewish immigration and acquiring tracts of land that would become the inalienable property of the Jewish people. This policy inevitably prevented the indigenous Arab residents from attaining their national goals and establishing a Palestinian state. It also necessitated displacing Palestinians from their lands and jobs when their presence conflicted with Zionist interests. The Zionist movement-and subsequently the state of ISRAEL-failed to develop a positive approach to the Palestinian presence and Palestinian aspirations. Although many Israelis recognized the moral dilemma posed by the Palestinians, the majority either tried to ignore the issue or to resolve it by force majeure . Thus, the Palestine problem festered and grew, instead of being resolved.

    The Seven Noach Commandments
By Dr. Akiva G. Belk This study of the Holy Days is dedicated in the loving memory of Mrs. Ethel Sakash Belk, may she rest in peace. Non Jews are only obligated to observe the Seven Noach Commandments also known as "the Seven Noach Laws." Six of these commandments have been in existence since Creation and the seventh since the destruction of the world by water. The Noach commandments may be regarded as the foundations of all human and moral progress. They recognize that moral progress and its concomitant Divine love and approval are the privilege and obligation of all mankind. All mankind may attain spiritual perfection, by the observance of these laws and obtain a good life in the life hereafter. Failing to follow the Seven Noach Commandments will result in death. Let's examine these seven laws: Commandment One:
Establish and Follow A System of Rulership / Justice Commandment Two:
Do Not Blaspheme G-d's Holy Name Commandment Three:
Only Worship the Creator. Idolatry Is Prohibited.
