Jehovah’s Witnesses:
Locusts From the Abyss?
Introduction
This article has been contributed to us by Vladimir Rumyantsev, our friend in St Petersburg. Read it carefully - you will be amazed at this particular claim of Jehovah's Witnesses!
Museltof
Hell is naked before Him, and destruction (Heb:'Abaddon') hath no covering (Job 26:6);
Hell and destruction (Heb:'Abaddon') are before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? (Proverbs 15:11);
Hell and destruction (Heb:'Abaddon') are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied (Proverbs 27:20);
Destruction (Heb:'Abaddon') and death say, we have heard the fame thereof with our ears (Job 28:22);
And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue is Apollyon (Revelation 9:11).
Neatly dressed people holding religious literature in their hand, approaching passers-by, is a picture that is hardly surprising nowadays, so a phone call in my apartment did not take me by surprise, either. And when a woman’s voice on the other end of the line asked if I wanted to hear good news of God, I knew right away who it was and what the topic of the conversation was going to be. When I asked my interlocutor to introduce herself and her religious affiliation, a predictable answer followed: “I am with Jehovah’s Witnesses World Organization.” She started our talk with a traditional question: did I agree that not all religious organizations follow the path of truth? Naturally, my answer was yes, like there was anyone who would ever say something different! And when she asked whether I agreed that there was one organization on this Earth indeed representing God, I did not object, either. Jehovah’s Witnesses go around saying that they are the best experts on the Bible, with their church’s original name, 'Bible Scholars', speaking volumes all by itself! Having only a very basic idea of theology as a discipline, I did not contest her superiority in this regard, and just offered to discuss with her some points within the Holy Scriptures.

These terms have no meaning except in contrast to the Christian doctrine of God as agreed upon by six of the seven ecumenical councils of the Church. As such, these terms do not positively describe the views of those who hold them, but rather distinguish the view from the understanding of God which has been traditionally associated with Christianity.

Practices of Jehovah's Witnesses
Word: Word Starts with Ends with Definition Practices of Jehovah's Witnesses Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) are a nontrinitarian Christian religion founded in the 1870s in Pennsylvania by Charles Taze Russell as a small Bible study group. Their subsequent history sometimes has been marked by religious and political controversy. During Russell's lifetime, the study group multiplied in several states, and came to be known as the Bible Students. In 1881, they founded Zion's Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, it was registered in 1884 with Russell as president. The name is today Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania. Later, in 1914 they founded International Bible Students Association in the UK, and in 1931, when Joseph Franklin Rutherford was president of the society, they adopted the name Jehovah's Witnesses.

Speaking the Truth in Love to Jehovah's Witnesses I was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness and remained one until age 11. Coming out of this cult, I entered my teenage years as a bitter atheist where I remained until I graduated from college. Through God’s amazing grace I was saved in 1994 after reading the Bible and realizing that it was indeed the true Word of God. Repeatedly God has blessed me with the passion and privilege to witness to the Jehovah’s Witnesses. You’ve almost certainly had them come knocking on your door on a Saturday afternoon and you may have even engaged a Jehovah’s Witness in a theological discussion. In talking to other Christians I find that when presented with a face-to-face encounter with a Jehovah’s Witness there are usually two responses: 1) A "frontal assault" via debate or heated discussion; or

    Home About Bible Experiences ... WT Victims Memorial Watchtower Approves HemoPure for Jehovah's Witnesses Jehovah's Witnesses have long been known for their rejection of blood and blood-component transfusion, even when it is necessary to save life. In a remarkable change in policy, the Witnesses’ governing body announced in the June 15, 2000 issue of its official church publication The Watchtower, that members may now accept "fractions of any of the primary components" of blood. (Italics added) Previously, Witnesses who accepted a transfusion of blood fractions other than those found in plasma faced possible expulsion and enforced shunning by church members. follow this link. That approval of the use of hemoglobin marks a notable change in the Watchtower Society’s policy is readily seen from its own published statements: “Is it wrong to sustain life by administering a transfusion of blood or plasma or red cells or others of the component parts of the blood? Yes!...The prohibition includes "any blood at all." (Leviticus 3:17) - Blood, Medicine and the Law of God, 1961, pp. 13, 14 “…various tonics and tablets sold by druggists show on their labels that they contain blood fractions such as hemoglobin. A physician's guide to
    saving lives and limiting
    personal liability
    Please support Jehovah's Witnesses who might receive blood transfusions… We are a group of Jehovah's Witnesses who sincerely believe that the decision to refuse or accept blood transfusions is a purely personal matter which should be decided individually based on our own conscience rather than the mandate coming from our organization, the Watch Tower Society (WTS). We believe that the Bible, which is the ultimate guide of our Christian life, does not forbid the medical use of blood. We also believe that the current policy of banning certain blood transfusions, as enforced by the WTS, is plagued with in-consistencies and contradictions with no Scriptural support. We are appealing to the organization to reform this outdated policy in view of rapidly changing medical technology. At the same time, we are asking the medical community to support our effort. We are fully aware of the potential risks involved in blood transfusions, and we request that bloodless treatment and alternatives to blood transfusions be used whenever such treatments are available without undue risk. However, when there are no such alternatives, such as when we have massive and uncontrollable hemorrhage, and bleeding to death appears inevitable, we believe physicians should be permitted to make every effort to stabilize our condition, including the use of blood transfusions. When you encounter a Jehovah's Witness patient the next time, please remember he or she might agree to accept blood transfusions despite their status as an active Jehovah's Witness. If you have established a belief that every Jehovah's Witness patient will universally refuse blood transfusions, it is time to reconsider this notion. Please investigate the individual JW patient's understanding of the WTS blood policy, including components they may not be aware that the WTS now permits, as well as the risk versus benefit analysis of blood transfusions, and the degree of commitment. We request that the refusal of blood transfusion be determined in each case only after such a thorough and private conference with the Jehovah's Witness patient.

  • Origin
    The Jehovah´s Witnesses are a religious movement which was founded in the 1870s by the American Charles Taze Russell. He considered himself able to calculate the year in which the end of the world was due, primarily from the data in the Revelation of Saint John, and the Book of Daniel. He initially came up with the year 1914. In that year the so-called Battle of Armageddon was to take place, in which all true Witnesses of Jehovah would be saved. 144,000 of these Witnesses were to obtain an exclusive salvation. In Heaven, together with Jesus, they were going to govern the coming new world. The remainder of the Witnesses were to be saved in another way: First they were to clean up after all the dead non-Jehovah´s Witnesses, and then create a paradise kingdom on earth. Signs of the imminent End were: natural disasters, increasing violence, wars and economic trouble. When the end did not come in 1914, new dates were fixed: 1918, 1925, 1941, and 1975. These mistaken predictions have been embarrassing every time. Yet, there has been no shortage of imaginative explanations. The closeness of the end of the world remains the most important part of the teachings, though today there is no longer a fixed year for the battle of Armageddon. At the time of Russell´s death, the foundation of a large American organization had been laid: The Watchtower Society. A lot of people all over the world were affiliated with the society. Under the leadership of President Russell´s successor, Judge Rutherford, a theocracy was introduced: The top management of the Watchtower Society, "The Governing Body", was now said to be directly led by God. What these leading men decide and agree upon becomes law for the followers, for they claim to have their authority and power from God.

    Andrew W. Lusk
    Jehovah's Witnesses, famous for their door-to-door preaching, blood refusal and political neutrality, are embroiled in a scandal that is comparable to the Pope privately supporting abortion. Witnesses must stay neutral in political affairs including war, or risk excommunication and shunning by the congregation. The Witnesses' leadership has gone so far as to view the United Nations as the Bible's evil scarlet colored wild beast (similar to how Catholics view the Antichrist). Yet, the United Nations confirmed that the Witnesses' leadership, through its parent Watchtower Corporation, had been in a quiet, 10-year, political association/partnership with the UN. The leaders quickly quit the UN partnership after a British newspaper exposed the hypocrisy in October 2001. No one knows what the 6 million Witnesses including the thousands brutalized by dictators over their neutrality stance think about the UN political affair since the head office has never published an official statement to the Rank and File. Yet, the leadership is sending the Witnesses to every home to preach about the wrongfulness of religious hypocrisy. They will come to your door and they will bear in hand a November 15, 2001

    History
    Officially known as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, the Jehovah's Witnesses are a product of the life work of Charles Taze Russell, born February 16, 1852, near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1870, while still in his teens and without formal theological education, Russell organized a Bible class whose members eventually made him "pastor".
    In 1879 he founded the magazine Zion's Watchtower in which he published his own unique interpretation of the Bible, and in 1886, the first volume of seven books (six written by Russell) entitled The Millennial Dawn was published (later retitled Studies in the Scriptures).
    By the time of his death in 1916, "Pastor" Russell, according to the Watchtower, traveled more than a million miles, gave more than thirty thousand sermons, and wrote books totaling over fifty thousand pages (Qualified to be Ministers, Anon., 1955, p. 310).

    What they will tell you:
    Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians (although this varies - some JWs will not say this).
    What they won't tell you:
    They believe that all true Christian churches are of the devil. They believe Jesus is not God, but is the Archangel Michael - the first being created by God. They deny that God is a Trinity. They believe Jesus died on a stake, rather than a cross. They deny that Jesus rose bodily from the dead. They believe that ony 144,000 Jehovah's Witnesses will go to heaven. The rest will live forever in a paradise on Earth, never meeting the person who died for them - Jesus Christ. They believe that salvation is impossible outside of the Watchtower. They are not allowed to question the Watchtower leadership or teaching. They claim you need to read the Watchtower's magazines and other material in order to understand the Bible correctly. If you don't read the Watchtower's books, you will "fall into darkness" - what they call reverting to normal Christianity. They have falsely predicted the end of the world five times.
