  • Jehovah's Witnesses and Nazi Germany Index Early during their development, the Nazis began to suppress several Christian minorities whom they felt were subversive to their goals. Even before the war, Jehovah's Witnesses had been considered heretics by other Christian denominations and individual German states sought to limit their activities. In the early 1930's, Nazi storm troopers broke up their meetings and beat up individual Witnesses. After the Nazis came to power, the persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses intensified. On July 27, 1933, the Gestapothe Nazi street policeclosed the printing operation of the Watchtower Society, an organization of the Witnesses. The Gestapo ordered all state-police precincts to search regional Witness groups and organizations. The Witnesses, however, defied Nazi prohibitions by continuing to meet and distribute literature smuggled in from Switzerland. For defying the ban on their activities, many Witnesses were arrested and sent to prisons and concentration camps. They lost their jobs in both private industry and public service and were denied their unemployment, social welfare, and pension benefits.

However, in the hope that these little nuggets may make things a little easier for you, I'll pass them on and wish you all blessings. It took me a long time (well over a decade) to really sort out what was helpful to me; many feelings and issues pass away within a year or two, but there are more subtle and lingering effects sometimes only noticable by an awareness of their relative absence. You will have to discover for yourself what works best for you, and to trust in yourself enough to believe what you know to be best for you. Learn to trust your own instincts and to try alternative strategies to navigate to the other side of your fears.

    About this page

The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society originated as a sect of the Adventist Movement.
Theologically, the movement is a cult of Christianity due to its adherence to heretical doctrines. Thus, while Jehovah's Witnesses profess to be Christians , they are outside orthodox Christianity.
Sociologically, the movement has many cult characteristics as well, including the high level of control the organization holds over its members, the practice of shunning (ostracizing) disfellowshipped members by all but the immediate family, and the refusal to accept life-saving surgery if it involves traditional blood transfusion methods.
Jehovah's Witnesses consider their organization to be the only true Christian organization. They also view themselves as God's righteous people who are persecuted by governments and traditonal Christian groups (''apostate Christendom''). Witnesses believe that the truths of Scripture were lost through apostacy that occured centuries ago; then God used C.T. Russell to bring to light and restore many of the Christian teachings that had been lost. A few of Russell's doctrines have been kept, others have been modified over the years, and some have been discarded altogether. Jehovah's Witnesses deny many of the cardinal docrines of historic Christianity: the Trinity , the deity of Jesus , the physical resurrection of Christ, and the personality of the

    Stumpers for the Jehovah's Witnesses
The sect known as Jehovah’s Witnesses (JWs) began with Charles Taze Russell in the 1870’s. Russell was raised a Presbyterian, then joined the Congregational church, and was finally influenced by Adventist teachings. By his own admission, he had a hard time accepting the existence of hell. He sought out the Bible, and as his "studies" continued, he systematically began to reject the major doctrines of historic Christianity. He ultimately established his own belief system, and in 1879 he started publishing a magazine to promote his beliefs. This magazine was the precursor to today’s Watchtower (WT) magazine, by which Jehovah’s Witnesses are typically known.
In this tract we will examine five topics relating to Russell, the JWs, and their parent organization, the Watch Tower Society (WTS). We will show that the beliefs of JWs are unscriptural, and that both Russell and the WTS are completely unreliable as spiritual guides.

The God of the Jehovah's Witnesses
One of the most unique doctrines the Jehovah’s Witnesses teach is that Christ, both before he came to Earth and since he has returned to heaven, was and is Michael the Archangel. To argue this, the Witnesses use 1 Thessalonians 4:16: "the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet." (Unless otherwise noted, all quotations are from the New World Translation [NWT] of the Bible, published by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, the parent organization for the Jehovah’s Witnesses.) From this verse the Witnesses conclude that the Lord Jesus Christ is an archangel because he has "an archangel’s voice." No other denomination has ever come up with such a conclusion, because every other denomination has concluded that the return of the Lord will simply be heralded by an archangel. But let’s continue with the Witnesses’ argument.
They identify the archangel as Michael from Jude 9: "But when Michael the archangel had a difference with the devil and was disputing about Moses’ body, he did not dare to bring a judgment against him in abusive terms, but said: ‘May Jehovah rebuke you.’" How does this identification work? According to

Roman Catholics and Jehovah s witnesses are strikingly similar! Roman Catholics and Jehovah s witnesses share exactly these same qualities
    http://www.bible.ca/cath-JW-converting.htm
Roman Catholics and Jehovah's Witnesses are strikingly similar! Roman Catholics and Jehovah's Witnesses share exactly these same qualities:
  • Centralized World-wide church government from which all official doctrine comes. The Pope and the Governing body. A city where world headquarters permanently resides: Rome, Italy and Brooklyn, NY, USA Authority of this "world organization" is not to be questioned. Both consider God to be the head of the world organization. Both the Pope and the Governing body both claim inspiration. Both organizations are "spirit directed" by God. A simple definition of both is as follows: "Definition of a Catholic/Jw: 'Someone who accepts Rome/Brooklyn as God's visible spirit-directed theocratic organization upon the earth. Both have official yearly meetings of the world leaders. The official doctrines that have changed dramatically over time. Both claim "new light" or progressive revelation to explain doctrinal changes. Both share a similar hermeneutic on how to determine truth: Catholics have a system called, "Doctrine of Development" popularized by Dr. Newman, but anticipated by the German theologian Mohler in his work, Symbolik. This hermeneutic contended that Christ had committed to His Church certain seeds and germs of truth, destined afterwards to expand to definite forms; that He did not intend that the teaching of His Church should be always the same; but ordained that it should go on continually improving under the guidance of His Holy Spirit. Jw’s employ exactly the same hermeneutic but call it by a different name: "New Light"
  • 74. The Real Reasons Why Watchtower Organization FEARS The INTERNET
Why the Governing Body of Jehovah s witnesses FEARS the Internet! Jehovah s witnesses are officially forbidden from reading any nonJW religious information.
    http://www.bible.ca/Jw-internet.htm
Why the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses FEARS the Internet!
Why? They want total, 100% Information control!
The Internet represents freedom of information. When Witnesses read anything other than the propaganda the Watchtower puts out, they can see truthful gaping holes and rapidly changing theology. In other words, the Governing Body has learned that almost every time any Witness begins to cross-examine the organization, their speed of departure is directly proportionate to their personal honesty towards the facts of history.
    Background:
    • To understand why the Governing body literally fears the Internet, you must go back a few years prior to the Internet. We have posted this page since 1996 and predicted the crackdown on Jw’s would come regarding the internet. Well the time is past for in November 1999, the "Kingdom Ministry" publication came down very hard against Jehovah’s Witnesses using the internet and email. Click here to view this incredible document . We just laugh in pity when JW’s try to claim they are free to surf the net... Sure... as long they don’t get caught! Starting in about September 1990 many websites run by Jw’s were forced by the governing body to "cease and desist" their on line presence. They were told, "Hey, you got the official website what more do you need? Open your mouth and get fed like the rest of the sheep. You are not a feeder but one who gets fed!"

    Jehovah's Witnesses
Jehovah's Witnesses are a Restorationist Christian denomination founded in the by Charles Taze Russell as a small Bible study group, later known as the International Bible Students. Jehovah's Witnesses consider their religion to be a restoration of original first-century Christianity. The group's members are known for their racially diverse, close-knit brotherhood, door-to-door evangelizing, and non-participation in government, including politics and military service. They generally exhibit a high degree of commitment to their religion, attending meetings three times a week in their local Kingdom Hall or in private homes. Larger gatherings are held, usually three times a year, in assembly halls or public facilities, such as sports stadiums. Some trinitarian Christian groups do not consider the Witnesses to be Christian, because of the Witnesses' rejection of the Trinity , as expressed in their belief that Jesus Christ is a created being. Drawing much of their early membership and some of their theology from the Millerite movement, the Jehovah's Witnesses adopted their current name in

    Banning vaccinations:
An early leader of the Jehovah's Witnesses , C. J. Woodworth, maintained a continuing opposition to vaccinations. He seems to have believed that vaccination caused animal blood cells to be injected into humans. This he regarded as equivalent to eating blood, an activity that is forbidden in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament). The group banned their members from having vaccinations from 1931 to 1952. An unknown number of Witnesses were disfellowshipped because they disobeyed their leaders on this matter. The following condemnations of vaccination were published in the Jehovah's Witnesses' periodical, The Golden Age, from 1921 to 1935. This magazine was first published in 1919: " Vaccination never prevented anything and never will, and is the most barbarous practice...We are in the last days; and the devil is slowly losing his hold, making a strenuous effort meanwhile to do all the damage he can, and to his credit can such evils be placed...Use your rights as American citizens to forever abolish the devilish practice of vaccinations. 78. STATEMENT DJ535
According to Jehovah witnesses, the Trinity is a satanic dogma of apostate Christianity that prevents people from knowing the true God, Jehovah.
    http://www.equip.org/free/DJ535.htm
STATEMENT DJ535 Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Trinity A comparison of the historical Christian doctrine of the Trinity with the theology of the Watchtower The doctrine of the Holy Trinity has been consistently misunderstood, probably more than any other teaching of the Bible. Frequently investigation into the doctrine of the Trinity has been dismissed from serious discussion or study by invoking the time-worn assertions — ”It’s a great mystery” or “This is incomprehensible” — thus discouraging many from investigating the scriptural basis of the doctrine. Due principally to this attitude as well as certain complex aspects of the Trinity doctrine itself, there has been a revival of anti-Trinitarian heresies during the past one hundred and fifty years, and they have gone largely unanswered. Prominent among those groups rejecting the historic doctrine of the Trinity are Mormonism, Christian Science, Unity, Spiritism, and Jehovah’s Witnesses — i.e., The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. According to Jehovah Witnesses, the Trinity is a satanic dogma of apostate Christianity that prevents people from knowing the true God, Jehovah. The Watchtower puts it this way: “The doctrine in brief is that there are three gods in one: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. . .the Holy Spirit is not a person and is therefore not one of the gods of the Trinity. . .the Trinity doctrine was not conceived by Jesus or the early Christians. . .the obvious conclusion therefore is that Satan is the originator of the Trinity doctrine.”

    Introduction
Jehovah's Witnesses endured intense persecution under the Nazi regime. Actions against the religious group and its individual members spanned the Nazi years 1933 to 1945. Unlike Jews, Sinti and Roma ("Gypsies"), persecuted and killed by virtue of their birth, Jehovah's Witnesses had the opportunity to escape persecution and personal harm by renouncing their religious beliefs. The courage the vast majority displayed in refusing to do so, in the face of torture, maltreatment in concentration camps, and sometimes execution, won them the respect of many contemporaries. The following bibliography was compiled to guide readers to materials on Jehovah's Witnesses that are in the Library's collection. It is not meant to be exhaustive. In most cases, annotations are provided to help the user determine the item's focus, and call numbers for the Museum's Library are given in parentheses following each citation. Those unable to visit might be able to find these works in a nearby public or academic library as well, or acquire them through interlibrary loan. Talk to your local librarian for assistance.
