NCJLT is an organization dedicated to the promotion and development of Japanese language teaching at the elementary, secondary, and higher education levels across the United States. The mission of NCJLT is to support Japanese Language teachers and promote Japanese Language education. The vision of NCJLT is to foster the study of Japanese language and culture at the Pre-K-16 levels via supportive programs. NCJLT Services and Programs Oshirase Newsletter with national and regional Japanese language field news, upcoming events, special awards, and job postings. Active promotion of the teaching and learning of Japanese language K-16 in the United States. Cooperation with the Association of Teachers of Japanese to hold K-16 discussions on national standards, articulation and other current issues. Support and creation of professional development opportunities for Japanese language teachers. Administration of the Japanese National Honor Society for secondary students. A yearly 'Nengajou' contest for students at all levels. Organization and sponsorship of the NCJLT portion of the yearly ACTFL conference. In 2001 there were 25 NCJLT-sponsored sessions. | |
