Nara from the air
Nara is an ancient capital of Japan that abounds with archaeological sites and cultural heritage. Historical monuments in Nara were inscribed on the World Heritage List announced by UNESCO in 1998. This web page guides you on a tour of the nature, history and culture of Nara. The old Japanese word soramitsu was used in classical Japanese poetry as an epithet for Yamato, the old name of the Nara region. Because the Japanese word sora means sky and mi means viewing, Nihon-shoki , a history compiled in the 8th century, explained the derivation of the word soramitsu by the legend that a deity named Nigihayahi-no-Mikoto viewed Yamato from a flying ship and then landed there (see Nihongi translated by W. G. Aston, p. 135). Accordingly, this tour uses a satellite image as an index and aerial photos in explanations of the various things you'll discover.

    Introduction

This paper addresses the subject of the first four points listed in the KIS point-by-point rebuttal, which deal with the controversial relationship between Korea and Japan in the late fourth and early fifth centuries, particularly the alleged Imna Command Post, and the alleged domination of Silla and Paekche by the Wa. which is the lynchpin in the Japanese theory of Wa domination in the peninsula during the fourth and fifth centuries. Information from related historical records, such as the Samguk Sagi and the Nihon Shoki as well as evidence from the growing body of archaeological data from both the peninsula and the archipelago, will also be considered in the overall evaluation.

    Background and Context
The problem of a less than accurate official historical record in Japan has been known for some time, and the role of the Japanese government is also well known in that regard:
Today there is not much need to stress the fictitious character of the chronology of the Kojiki and Nihonshoki
Pre World War II Japanese history textbooks were based on the Nihon Shoki
However, at the time, the only historical evidence of such a claim that was used in textbooks came from books eight and nine of the

Comment Japanese history textbooks fail to mention Gojoseon (Dan-gun Joseon), the first nation state in Korea which is believed to have been established about 2,333 B.C. Instead, these textbooks have Korean history begin with the four commanderies of the Chinese Han Dynasty. Consequently, the beginning of the Korean history is pushed forward to a much later date, and it is implied that Korea was under Chinese rule from the very beginning of its history. This is a gross distortion, which omits an entire portion of Korea¡¯s national legacy. Furthermore, Japanese history textbooks omit any reference to Korea¡¯s Bronze Age and, instead, stress the influence of Chinese culture over Korea.
However, it is a widely accepted view both in Korea and Japan that Korea¡¯s Bronze Age culture, which started at about the 10

    Ancient History Lessons #2
When I was about three or four we moved to Japan. Sounds like quite the exotic life but I don't remember a whole bunch about it. I don't know any Japanese that I didn't hear in a Godzilla movie. I remember spending most of the time in the on-base housing with the rest of the round eyes, but for the first few months or so we lived off-base. We hung around with round-eyes, we went to school with round eyes, we could have been in Idaho except that I could see Mount Fuji from my schoolhouse window. What I remember most about Japan is the GOAT. Dad bought a 1965 GTO convertible in California and brought it over to Japan. It was bright yellow with a white top and had a tiger on the front dash whose eyes lit up in sync with the turn signals. The tiger's tail disappeared into one defroster vent and came out of the other. Hanging from the dashboard was a silver box with eight green lights that flashed in time to the spark plugs. I think it even had a four-track tape player. Dad was quite the gear-head even back then. I was introduced to stereo equipment (but I was told never to touch it), I saw my first color TV when dad got that round-tube RCA (but most of the shows were still black and white). I think Mom drove a Corvair, I remember finding dozens of little plastic cars in between the seat cushions, a veritable treasure trove for a five year old kid!

    Ancient history:
Millet Plant Several rich Korean kingdoms grew up in the first two millennia a.d. Shilla (668-935) occupied what is now South Korea. Its kings established Buddhism as the official state religion, but Confucian scholars and ideas also entered Korea. Near the southeastern city of Kyongju stand huge artificial mounds. They are the burial places for the members of the Shilla royal dynasty and they are loaded with gold and gems, especially jade. For more information on this subject: http://violet.berkeley.edu/~korea/history.html Royal Burial Mounds Korea and China: The Korean kingdoms were influenced by Chinese trade goods and culture. Korean writing systems (4th century a.d.), architecture, political systems, religions, and even musical instruments came from China. Koreans adapted these Chinese things and made them their own. Chinese scholars had devised a kind of printing system using carved wooden blocks. Koreans took this invention one step further and created the first world's first metal moveable type in the 12th century. Adaptation of foreign things for their own use is a historical characteristic of Korean culture, even today.
