These volumes include two series of villotte , one alla napolitana and one alla padoana , in addition to single volumes of villotte by individual composers and the odd villotta published in a collection of canzone villanesche . In my study of the mid- cinquecento villotta , I aim to elucidate any textual and musical structures common to the volumes, to shed light on some lesser known musical actors, and to place the genre in its cultural context. These pages are a snapshot of this work-in-progress, and everything is in draft form.
