Images and historical notes from Shishir Thadani, part of Image India, illustrating the development of islamic architecture in India.
http://members.tripod.com/~IMAGE_INDIA/islamic.html
IMAGE INDIA Architecture of the Islamic Courts (Visiting for the first time? Please read the introduction to Image India Index of Images: Delhi Sultanate The earliest Islamic monuments in India were often built by recycling material from earlier Jain or Hindu monuments. The Adhai-Din-Ka Jhompra of Ajmer which dates from the 12th C was built over the ruins of a Jain monastery/college that used to be a centre of Sanskrit learning during the reign of the Chauhans. However, the Shahi Mosque of Udaypur in Central India was built from original materials. Adhai-Din Ka Jhompra, Ajmer Udaypur Hissar and Hansi also have interesting monuments from this period. Chanderi was first fortified by the Pratihara king in the 11th C but later came under the occupation of the Delhi Sultans and it's Islamic monuments date from that period onwards. Bengal Sultanate The Sultans of Bengal built several mosques in the vicinity of their old capitals in Pandua and Gaur (14th-15th C). The grandest of these was the Adina Mosque of Pandua which boasts some very intricate carvings. As elsewhere in the country, decorative elements were freely adapted from older temples, and building materials from vandalized monuments were often reused as in the Eklakhi Mosque. In the Adina Mosque, some of the decorative motifs appear to have a striking resemblance to those seen in the heavily damaged Kakathiya monuments of Warangal suggesting that artisans from the Telangana region may have been employed in it's construction.

Religious leaders condemned the attacks
During Friday prayers Muslim clerics in the Arab world have strongly condemned Tuesday's attacks in America.
It's not courage in any way to kill an innocent person, or to kill thousands of people, including men and women and children
Sheik Mohammed Sayed Tantawi Syria's most senior Islamic leader described the attacks on America as a terrorist act, as ignoble as what he called the state terrorism practised by Israel. Hundreds of Palestinians also rallied in the West Bank city of Ramallah to show support for Americans killed in the attacks, as well as condemn Israeli killing of Palestinians in Jenin. And in Iran, Tehran's main football stadium observed an unprecedented minute's silence in sympathy with the victims. 'State terrorism' Iran's Ayatollah Imami Kashani spoke of a catastrophic act of terrorism which could only be condemned by all Muslims, adding the whole world should mobilise against terrorism.

169. DOMICILE POLYGAMY TALAQ ISLAMIC MARRIAGES
The rules and regulations concerning polygamy and immigration into Britain.
http://www.ukimmigration.co.uk/DOMICILEPOLYGAMYTALAQISLAMICMARRIAGES.htm
Domicile Polygamy Talaq Islamic Marriages
Domicile is an important legal concept. It used to be said "When in Rome do as the Romans", but that is not always good advice. A British Muslim cannot go to an Islamic country and marry 4 wives, because although the local law may permit it, he is domiciled in Britain and British personal law applies to him.
People are born with a domicile of origin , usually of the place where they were born. (Sometimes they take a parent's domicile!) They can acquire a domicile of choice , and even resume their domicile of origin or an earlier domicile of choice. It is up to whoever alleges a change of domicile to prove it. Dislodging a domicile of origin is particularly difficult.
People rarely consciously change domicile on a particular day. It happens gradually. The question is "on this important day (marriage, divorce, death) what was his domicile?"
Change of domicile can be established by ownership and purchase of land, opening and closing bank accounts, the amount of time spent in each country, where one wishes to be buried and many other questions. Most of the British cases about domicile are income tax cases where people are saying that they changed their domicile on a trip abroad, but the Inland Revenue doesn't accept it. A Canadian who came over to fight in World War II, married a local girl, and stayed 47 years won his case to retain his Canadian domicile because the court accepted that if his wife died first he would return to Canada. Obtaining British Citizenship or even answers on a domicile questionnaire are not conclusive.

HAMAS (Islamic Resistance Movement)
From: Patterns of Global Terrorism, 2002 . United States Department of State, April 2003.
Comments on the content of the material should be sent to the U.S. Department of State Description
Formed in late 1987 as an outgrowth of the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Various HAMAS elements have used both political and violent means, including terrorism, to pursue the goal of establishing an Islamic Palestinian state in place of Israel. Loosely structured, with some elements working clandestinely and others working openly through mosques and social service institutions to recruit members, raise money, organize activities, and distribute propaganda. HAMAS’s strength is concentrated in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Also has engaged in peaceful political activity, such as running candidates in West Bank Chamber of Commerce elections. Activities
HAMAS activists, especially those in the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, have conducted many attacks—including large-scale suicide bombings—against Israeli civilian and military targets. In the early 1990s, they also targeted suspected Palestinian collaborators and Fatah rivals. HAMAS increased its operational activity during 2001-2002 claiming numerous attacks against Israeli interests. The group has not targeted US interests—although some US citizens have been killed in HAMAS operations—and continues to confine its attacks to Israelis inside Israel and the territories.

Muslims in science All of us know a lot about, or at least heard of, the great "famous" scientists like Newton, Max Planck, Einstein, Pauli, Dirac, Feynman, Landau, Riemann, Caushy ...etc. However, many people know nothing about other great scientists, who added a lot to the knowledge of mankind. Their work was the building block of all nowadays sciences (physics, mathematics , chemistry, astronomy, geology, geography, medicine engineering and a lot more) as well as technology. Without their participation, we would have been delayed for many centuries. Those are the scientists of the "golden" Islamic Empire. For many reasons, their names fainted out but their work cannot be ignored. Most importantly, for many reasons (mostly by us Muslims in the first place) the Islamic nation is going from bad to worse. I wish we can wake up and take those great people as leading guides. This page is dedicated to those great, yet hardely-known, muslim and arab scientists.

Many Muslims are worried about attacks
Ten pigs' heads have been left outside a mosque following the terrorist attacks in the United States. They were left around the car park outside the Islamic Centre of the South West in Exeter, said a Devon and Cornwall police spokesman. Officers were called to the mosque in York Road just before midnight on Thursday last week. The spokesman said the incident was being treated as "a local act of vandalism". "We are working extremely closely with leaders of the Islamic centre," he said. The Islamic Centre said it was not making any comment to avoid inflaming the situation. Muslims are forbidden to eat or touch pigs. Malicious fire Meanwhile, Muslim leaders in Manchester are appealing for calm after a suspected arson attack on a mosque in Bolton. Police said Thursday night's fire at the Alvia mosque on Bromwich Street was being treated as malicious.

    INTRODUCTION
    Bosnia and Herzegovina

In the 14th century the principality of Bosnia joined with a duchy to the south that would eventually be called Herzegovina as part of a short-lived medieval kingdom. The modern-day country of Bosnia and Herzegovina, often referred to simply as Bosnia, is still divided geographically into a northern region of Bosnia and a southern region of Herzegovina. The republic is bounded on the north and west by Croatia and on the east and south by the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY), the federation of Serbia and Montenegro, which claims to be the successor state to Yugoslavia. Bosnia also has 20 km (12 mi) of coastline along the Adriatic Sea, wedged between Croatian territories. The capital and largest city is Sarajevo. CONTACT INFO Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina
