I S L A M General The issues of modesty for women are important for women clinicians to be aware. Women who have viewed naked men other than their husbands are considered unclean, a potential dishonor to their family, and of low repute. This includes female nurses and doctors, and is considered one reason that many Islamic countries use large number of foreign nurses within their healthcare systems. A 'modest woman' under this definition would not consider a profession that included viewing naked men for any reason. Strict Islamic followers may respond in what would be considered more appropriate behaviors in the U.S. when treated by male clinicians. Belief about illness and disease Allah is seen as in control of the beginning and end of life, and therefore complaints and expression of powerlessness are rare since it is all seen as in God's hands. To question, or ask questions of health care providers is considered a sign of mistrust, so questions are less likely to be asked by patients and family. Belief about disability Disability is seen as under the control of Allah.

Was ist Islam?
Bedeutung von "Islam":
"Hingabe" (an den einen Gott)
"Ergebenheit" (in Seinen Willen)

Visible Islam in Modern Turkey by Adil Ozdemir and Kenneth Frank A larger size picture Macmillan Press St. Martin's Press SEV Yayinevi (Publishing House) London New York Istanbul ISBN 0-333-77670-4 ISBN 0-312-23479-1 ISBN 975-8176-46-3 A unique fruit of interreligious dialogue A case study of Islam in its traditional and secular forms A handbook for those exploring Turkey and the Islamic heritage An insight into the religious practices of Muslims in modern Turkey A novel and comprehensive look at Islamic worship, both standard and non-orthodox A way for Muslims to talk about their religious life in a modern idiom A fresh treatment in English of classical Islamic expressions and ideas A springboard for discussion, dialogue, and reflection A way to reach across religious boundaries A basic approach assuming no prior knowledge of Islam Respectful of scholarship, yet simply written; critical, but not defensive Our book touches on living issues, on persons caught up in current social and personal dramas, on actors in a major on-going religio-political story. This is therefore not a purely academic study, nor simply historical research, nor a dry listing of detached facts. The book has a rare challenging aspect, both to its subjects and to its readers Where to Order Who Should Read the Book?

    132. Gender Equity In Islam
The focus of this paper is the normative teachings of islam as the criteria to judge muslim practices and evaluate their compliance with islam.
    http://www.iad.org/books/GEI.html
    Gender Equity in Islam
Jamal A. Badawi, Ph.D. World Assembly of Muslim Youth WAMY Studies on Islam
When dealing with the Islamic perspective of any topic, there should be a clear distinction between the normative teachings of Islam and the diverse cultural practices among Muslims, which may or may not be consistent with them. The focus of this paper is the normative teachings of Islam as the criteria to judge Muslim practices and evaluate their compliance with Islam. In identifying what is "Islamic" it is necessary to make a distinction between the primary sources of Islam (the Qur'an and the Sunnah) and legal opinions of scholars on specific issues, which may vary and be influenced by their times, circumstances, and cultures. Such opinions and verdicts do not enjoy the infallibility accorded to the primary and revelatory sources. Furthermore, interpretation of the primary sources should consider, among other things: (a) The context of any text in the Qur'an and the Sunnah. This includes the general context of Islam, its teachings, its world view, and the context of the surah and section thereof. (b) The occasion of the revelation, which may shed light on its meanings.

The religion is currently in a period of rapid growth. Christianity is currently the largest religion in the world. It is followed by about 33% of all people a percentage that has remained stable for decades. If current trends continue, Islam will become the most popular world religion sometime in the mid-21 st century.

When the Prophet David ( Nabii Daud ) was not yet a man he was called on by God to slay the Giant Goliath ( Jalut ), which he did with the sacred stone that Abraham threw at Iblis in the desert of Mecca . God then “taught [David] the art of smelting iron ore. . . [and] commanded him: Fashion full-length coats of mail, and keep their rings small; and act righteously, all of you" . David’s divine power frightened the King Saul Talut; when David’s armour proved impenetrable Saul Talut reconciled with the Prophet, gave David his daughter, and made David his heir When David was a young king he was unjust, so God sent his Angel Mikail to mock David and make him aware of this sin. David sought solace in the desert where he prayed for God’s forgiveness, which God eventually granted. While the Prophet was alone in the desert his son, Abu Salama, rose up against him in an attempt to seize the throne. But God made an example of “rebellious sons,” and ordered the Angel of death Azrail to kill Abu Salama by hanging him from a tree and strangling him with his long hair God made King David vicegerent and commanded David to “judge between people with justice, and follow not vain desire, lest it should lead thee astray. . . .”

    bismillaahir rahmaanir rahiim
It is our firm belief that the unique social and historical conditions of our time, combined with new knowledge in the fields of science and technology, make it not only possible but highly likely that within a generation or so we will live in a fully and truly Islamic World. This website has been created to help achieve that goal.
Insha Allah, within a year this will be one of the world's most important Islamic Websites.
The Islamic World website was created on Rabiul Awal 12, 1421 h. (June 15, 2000 c.e.). Progress to date (22/04/2004)
  • In April 2001, Islamic-World received its first number ONE ranking. Islamic-World now has over 3000 webpages, making it the world's largest Islamic website. Islamic-World has approximately 33,000 links to other Islamic websites (and we hope our support helps bring many more visitors to the websites of our Muslim brothers and sisters). Islamic-World now receives over 1,500,000 visits per month from about 130 countries.
  • All praise be to Allah for this success.
