Islam Arabic Abrahamic monotheism (along with Christianity and Judaism ). With over 1.3 billion adherents worldwide, Muslims believe that Islam was revealed by God to all his messengers including Noah Abraham Moses Jesus , and finally Muhammad , the last Prophet of this line. Followers of Islam are known as Muslims . In some older English texts they are referred to as "Muhammadans" or "Mohammedans", but these terms are deprecated because they imply, incorrectly, that Muslims worship Muhammad, and so these terms are offensive to many Muslims. Table of contents 1 Statement of belief 2 The meaning of the word Islam 3 Beliefs 3.1 God ... edit
Statement of belief
Perhaps the most succinct and clear statement of Muslim belief is to be found in the shahaadatan (Arabic for 'two statements'): La ilaha illallah, wa Muhammadan rasulullah "There is no God but God; Muhammad is the messenger of God" . One needs to recite these statements to become a Muslim. So, technically, it requires only few seconds to become a Muslim. The other pillars of Islam all refer to rituals rather than faith.

Attacks find no justification in Islam, Muslim leader say
By JONATHAN LUXMOORE
Warsaw, Poland Leading Muslim theologians in Europe have denied claims that the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center might find justification under Islamic teaching. FBI and independent European investigators said the atrocities were linked to Saudi dissident Osama bin Laden, whose bases in Afghanistan are believed likely targets for U.S. and NATO military action. jihad salam Sajid said the verses indicated war must be waged solely in self-defense, and never against ordinary civilians who had inflicted no harm. Among interfaith reactions, the attacks on the United States were deplored in a Sept. 12 statement by the international Islamic-Catholic Liaison Committee, co-chaired by Cardinal Francis Arinze, the Nigerian prefect of the Council for Inter-religious Dialogue. Asked whether extreme interpretations of the Quran could be reined in by Islamic leaders, Sajid said the Muslim world lacked a central doctrinal authority comparable to the pope. However, he added that all religious leaders concurred that practical applications of Islamic teaching should be validated by specific citations from the Quran. 85. British And Muslim? By Abdal Hakim Murad

British and Muslim?
by
Abdal Hakim Murad
[Based on a lecture given to a conference of British converts on September 17 1997] It is said that the 19th century French poet Mallarm can only be fully understood by those who are not French, because they read him more slowly. Converts to Islam, the subject of this essay, can perhaps claim the same ambiguous advantage in their reading of the Islamic narrative. Several consequent questions impose themselves: can the clarity of vision brought by novelty outweigh the absence of a Muslim upbringing? Is adoption a more culturally fertile condition than simple son ship? Has the dynamism of Islamic culture after the initial Arab era owed everything to the energy of recent converts, with their own ethnic genius: the Persians, and then, pre-eminently, the Turks; and if so, might the appearance of converts in the West presage a larger revival of the fortunes of an aged and tired Islamic ummah. I hope to return to these interesting queries at a later date. Here, I shall confine myself to the issue that presents itself most sharply to those British people who, like myself, have boarded the lifeboat of Islam. The issue is the question of British Muslim identity. Who is a British Muslim is an easy question: it is anyone who follows Islam and holds a U.K. passport. This is at once the easiest and probably the only workable definition. The more teasing question, which I wish to raise in this article, is: what is a British Muslim? The query raises two problems related to belonging. What does it mean to be a British person who belongs to Islam? And, what does it mean to be a Muslim person who belongs to Britain? How do we map the overlap zone in a way that makes sense, and is legitimate, in terms of the co-ordinates of both of these terms?

The official text of the fatwa [ruling] was issued in Arabic and Italian; the English translation was rendered by Prof. Abdul Hadi Palazzi, Secretary-General of the Italian Muslim Association and Muslim Co-Chairman of the Root & Branch Assocation's Islam-Israel Fellowship). In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace upon His servant and Messenger, the Prophet Muhammad ibn 'Abdillah, upon his family, his companions and those who follow his way till the Day of the Resurrection. Allah, the Most High, says in the Holy Qur'an: "Of the people there are some who say: 'We believe in Allah and the Last Day,' notwithstanding their unbelief. Fain would they deceive Allah and the believers, but they only deceive themselves, and realize it not. In their hearts there is a disease, and Allah permitted this decease to increase. Grievous is the penalty they incur, because they are false." (Qur'an 2:8-10) During the past few months a group active in the United States that calls itself the "Nation of Islam" has received world wide press coverage. Its leader, Louis Farrakhan, met Islamic scholars and heads of state, introducing himself as a representative of American Muslims. Some brothers of ours asked this Board: "Can Mr. Farrakhan and his followers be accepted as 'Muslim' in the sense that this word is defined by the Shari'a (Islamic Law)?" With the permission and the help of Allah, after due investigation of the matter, this Board answers as follows:

MUSLIM MAN AND NON-MUSLIM WOMAN
by Arif Khan
MARRIAGE WITH CHRISTIANS AND JEWS :
The marriages between Muslim men and CERTAIN non-Muslim women is allowed. However, certain restrictions exist on such marriages, especially if they occur in non-Muslim lands where Islamic law and religion is not prevailing. Here I am translating the "fatwaa" from Maulana Muhammad Yousuf Ludhianvi, a well-known Muslim scholar from Pakistan, answering a question regarding the shar'aii position of marriages in the US with non-Muslim women. This question was asked by a Pakistani Muslim, living in the US, and it appeared in Maulana's column that is published every Friday in a daily newspaper, "Jang". He interprets the Islamic law as following: ******* 1- Non-Muslim women, to whom Muslim men can marry, are the women from Christian and Jewish religions who are residents of "Daar-ul-Islam****" nations where Islamic law prevails) and who are thereby called, "Dhi'mmi" (those who give Jazzia instead of Zakaat in an Islamic state), but NOT the residents of "dar al-kufr" (where the kuffar or non-Islamic rule exist). To these women, marriage is allowed but is "mukrooh tanzihi." (I can't translate it properly)

Pycckuu Members of the Tagouri family in Charles County, Maryland, are some of the growing number of Muslims moving into more rural parts. (Jim Blair) Islam is one of the fastest-growing religions in the United States today. According to one recent survey, there are 1,209 mosques in America, well over half founded in the last 20 years. Between 17 and 30 percent of American Muslims are converts to the faith. At the center of both traditional American life and the lives of the generally more recent Muslim immigrants is the family. As Shahed Amanullah, an engineer who lives in San Franciso, California, puts it, " American values are, by and large, very consistent with Islamic values, with a focus on family, faith, hard work, and an obligation to better self and society."

What do Muslims believe? Muslim Women Mosque in Marrakesh, Morocco Prayer and Meditation What do Muslims believe? Is it a sister faith to Christianity and Judaism? Is it a religion of peace and justice? These questions will be answered as well as similarities and differences to Christianity on this page.
Muslims differ on their views of Jesus. Muslims do not believe in Jesus' Sonship to the Father. They believe in Jesus, but just believing is not enough. James 2:19 says, 'Thou believest that there is one God, thou doest well; the devils also believe, and tremble." James was also talking about faith and doing good works. This also brings to mind a few other beliefs that Muslims have that are contradictory to the Word of God. They view Jesus as the Son of Mary, but not the Son of God. That is a dangerous belief according to the Book of 1 John. 1 John 4:15 says, "Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in Him, and He in God." In laymen's terms, anyone who does not confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God does not dwell in Him, neither is He one with God. God is none of his, nor is he or she born of God. (1 John 5:1)
They even deny the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. However, it is surprising that they have verses in Book 4 that God raised Jesus up.

Controversy over the French government's crackdown on radical Islam deepened yesterday when Paris attempted to kick out another alleged extremist religious and political leader, the sixth in four months. The expulsion of Midhat Guler, a Turkish market trader who had lived in France for 28 years, was halted after he appealed for political asylum. The French government says he is the leader in France of an extremist Turkish sect called Kaplan, which is already banned in Turkey and Germany. Islam / Islamism Islamism is a totalitarian ideology adhered to by Muslim extremists (e.g. the Taliban Wahhabis Hamas and Osama bin Laden ). It is considered to be a distortion of Islam . A muslim turns to Christ and suffers persecution.
http://www.answering-islam.org/Testimonies/saudi.html
A Testimony from a Saudi Believer "Born to a Saudi family, in Saudi Arabia, and living very close to Mecca, I grew up with strict principals and traditions of Islam and the Arab culture. As a teenager I went to the mosque five times a day in obedience to my parents. One night, while I was asleep, I had this horrible dream of me being taken into hell. And what I saw there brought me real fear and these dreams kept coming to me almost every night. At this point I was really wondering as to why I should be seeing hell in this manner. Suddenly one day, Jesus appeared to me and said, "Son, I am the way, the truth and the life. And if you would give your life to Me, and follow Me, I would save you from the hell that you have seen." The appointed day and time came for my execution, and I was waiting with much anticipation, yet very much strong in my faith in Jesus. Generally the executions are carried out on the set time and date. But to my amazement, no one turned up. One hour lapsed, two hours went by, then it became three hours, and then the day passed by. And no one turned up. Then two days later, the authorities turned up and opened the doors and told me, "You demon! Get out from this place!" I also noticed that the main person who was determined to get me beheaded was not present when they came to release me. I asked them where this guy was. And with much hesitation they replied that his son had died on the same day they planned to execute me. Although I continue to go through much persecution, one thing I know is that the Lord’s hand is upon me.

Sword of Islam : Muslim Extremism from the Arab Conquests to the Attack on America > Customer Review #1: Needs alot of help

It is important if you writing about a subject with many sources in another language to seek help in review and translation from somebody who is familiar with the culture and the language.
Example of the deficiencies in this book: there are alot of contradictory ideas. There is also a lot of repetition and cut and paste. The excuse of poor translation and the use of a quotation from "Lawrence of Arabia" is a poor excuse for improper editing or revising of text. This excuse still does not explain incorrect dates, and geographical mix up. Specific examples for the help needed:a. deficiencies in the translation: say "Tanzim" not "Tamzin". Do not add Al (The) to a noun (Fatah, Hizbollah, Mecca, Quarrish) it is like saying The New York. "Hawatmeh" and not "Hawatmen" p167. Mujahideen and not "Muhahideen al-Khalq" p158. Say Intifada neither "Infitidas" of Yassir Arafat nor "intifida"

Wealth as a reponsibility in Islam
Submitted by Admin on Tue, 2002/05/28 - 16:46. Principles As a Muslim, there are many responsibilites the one should undertake in this life. One of these responsibilities is management of wealth. Like most things in this life, wealth can be both beneficial (Arabic: NE'MAH ) and detrimental (Arabic: NIQMAH ). This depends on the following factors:
  • Intention
The intention ( NIYYA ) is of paramount importance in Islam. Everything you do depends on your intention, which is totally between you and Allah, no one else can know why you are doing something, except him. As most of us know, a Muslim is rewarded on normal everyday activities, if he makes the right intention to please Allah.
  • How it wealth earned
Wealth has to be earned in an Islamically permissible way. This means that it is
