We also have assorted clothing, "accessories" and art work featuring Irish. Proceeds are used solely for the purpose of promoting and teaching the Irish language. FORUMS Open-ended discussion areas are available in both Irish and English. General questions about the Irish language should also be posted here. IRISH GRAMMAR [Updated] This section focuses on Verbs and Prepositional Pronouns. Basic rules of grammar are provided,followed by pattern sentences demonstrating the rules. IRISH PHRASES This section provides basic words, phrases (with sound!) and pattern sentences for beginning and intermediate students. PROVERBS Seanfhocal na Seachtaine gives a different Irish proverb (seanfhocal) every week. Each entry includes a pronunciation guide, sound file (featuring native speakers) and a 'loose' English translation. Irish Language Classes
Conversational Irish for Beginners and Intermediates This course is designed to enable students to converse in the Irish language and to become familiar with the basics of Irish grammar. Elements of Irish culture, such as songs, blessings and sayings, poetry, holidays, and customs will be introduced to enrich student appreciation of the language. The course will consist of a two-hour class once a week for 10 weeks. Materials supplied will include a grammatical guide which has been prepared for the course and a tape recording of the material to help with pronunciation, as well as opportunities for conversation practice outside of class. Winter classes for beginners are held in the Maplewood area of Lake Avenue on Thursday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. beginning in January, 2004.
