Program Objective
We consider it to be the major goal of our program to have you use Gaelic in as large a variety of real-life situations as possible. To that end, our Irish Gaelic courses have been designed to build fluency in both the spoken and the written language. Please note that unless we have the minimum enrollment of four students at the beginning of each of our four main sessions (consisting of eight weeks), we are not able to offer a regularly scheduled group class. Students have the choice of either placing their names on a waiting list for a possible group class or making arrangements for private instruction Introductory Irish Gaelic
Introduces both the spoken and the written language, with conversational proficiency as the primary goal. The course emphasizes grammar, oral expression, and listening comprehension, and is designed to give beginning students a practical command of the language. Upon completion of this course, you can expect to be able to speak in a present and a future tense, to have enough vocabulary (500 to 1,000 words) to participate in basic everyday conversation, and to be able to read and write a simple letter.
Text and Supplementary Materials
Since communication in a foreign language requires an understanding of the cultural context, our aim is to teach you the living language through carefully selected textbooks, newspaper and magazine articles and other relevant materials, rather than have you repeat and memorize tourist phrases.

... Links I. History By: Andrew V. Liaugminas The history of the Scottish Gaelic language begins in Central Europe in the 5th century B.C., where a new tribe was taking Europe by storm - the Celts. This tribe was a hospitable group, placing much importance on family and friends - and widely known for their strength and valor in combat, and strong sense of culture in time of peace. Winning battle after battle, the Celts eventually conquered most of modern Europe; occupying lands from the Iberian peninsula in the west, to the Scottish highlands in the north, spanning Europe to the Black Sea in the East, and touching as far south as Central Italy.
During their history, the Celts gathered many names from the other tribes and cultures in Europe. The very word "Celt" comes from " Keltoi " (meaning "secret people"), which was the Ancient Greek name for the tribe. Regionally, the Celts who lived in the Iberian Peninsula were identified as

The Gaelic Language
What is Gaelic and who are the Gaels?
Gaelic is an English word for any of three languages which form one half of the Celtic language family group. These three Gaelic languages are Irish Gaelic, Manx Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic. These three languages are spoken in Ireland, Man and Scotland. The Gaels are the peoples who speak these languages or did so in the past. Gaelic was in danger of being exterminated in many of the traditional Gaelic speaking areas, but now a Gaelic renaissance has slowed this trend if not yet reversed it. Here is a basic comparison of Irish and Scottish Gaelic.
Comparison of Scottish and Irish Gaelic
Eclipsis
Impossible looking combinations of consonants at the beginning of Irish Gaelic words ( mb gc nd bhf ng bp dt ) strike terror in Scottish Gaelic speakers, but they are really very simple. They just mean that the preceding word historically used to end in an n or m , which often survives in the Scottish Gaelic spelling, but in Irish Gaelic only only survives as a modified pronounciation of the first letter of the following word. To get at the basic dictionary headword, just strip off the initial consonant. e.g.: Latha nam paistean Lá na bpáistí (look up "páiste")

75. Irish? Celtic? Gaelic?: A Clarification Of Terms
Although irish gaelic, or Gaelige is also a gaelic language, it s usually referred to as simply irish or called The irish language . irish And Scottish.
http://www.namenerds.com/irish/celtic.html
Irish? Celtic? Gaelic? Scottish? What Does it All Mean?
Many people have written to me with questions like "The name Kyleis it Irish or Celtic?" and "can you help me find a Gaelic name?" So what do these terms mean? It's somewhat confusing to find a name when you're not sure what you're looking for. This page is an attempt to clarify some terminology to help you get onto the right path.
Celtic (pronounced kell-tic, unless you're a basketball fan from Boston)
The Celts were a group of people who spread over the European continent sometime around 1000-700 B.C. They probably originated someplace in Asia. They spoke a language which we now refer to as Celtic Goidelic and Brythonic languages. There was another branch of Celtic languages that died out, but we won't concern ourselves with those right now! So when someone asks for a "Celtic" name, technically that could be a name from any one of these newer languages. Or, it could mean a name that is so ancient, it was coined before the Celtic language branched off into different languages. there are a few of these names remaining. For example, names from Celtic mythology and religion are old enough to defy the classification of "Irish" "Scottish" or anything else.
Goidelic and Brythonic Languages
The Goidelic languages are Irish Gaelic Scottish Gaelic , and Manx , which is spoken in the Isle of Man (Island between Ireland and Scotland. It's officially part of the United Kingdom). The
