One is at the Nevada Garden Clubs Center, located in Lorenzi Park at 3333 W Washington Ave. in Las Vegas, and the other is at the Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road in Henderson. Both shows are Saturday and Sunday. The show at the Garden Center is from 1-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The show at the Galleria is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Today's irises have come a long way from the original "flag" irises of yesteryear. Come see a "Kaleidoscope of `new' Irises" at the Garden Center and "Blaze of Color" at the mall. You'll be sure to find at least one variety that will be your favorite, said Dorlene Waite, president of the Las Vegas Iris Society. Now, some words of advice. When coming to these shows, you will see varieties you dearly want, but you'll have to wait until July, when their rhizomes will be for sale. If you have a short memory, jot down the irises you like, so in July you'll be able to purchase them. It is a great way to start growing irises and starting out with the best. Irises originated in a climate very much like ours, and are often known as the "orchids of the desert."
