Game Carpet: Iran Kerman Rug History Saljuq, Mongol, Afghan and even Safavid were not interested in Kerman and only Aqa Mohammad Khan attacked and destroyed this city, which was rebuilt after a time. Nevertheless, comparing with other important cities, Kerman was a poor city. In past, Kerman was in the way of caravans, traveling to India, which made it very important. Carpet weaving is very old in Kerman. The oldest carpet discovered in Kerman, belongs to about 500 years ago, which proves the precedence of weaving in this city. According to historical documents, this famous rug has been exported to India, in Akbar Gourkani Emperor period (17th century). In 1604 A.D., a Portuguese tourist, called "Pedro Teshira", has classified Kerman rugs as the second grade carpet and said, "Yazd rugs have the best images, finest weaving and are the most precious ones, while third grade valuable rugs are woven in Khorasan". Jean Chardin, a French jeweler and tourist, who has stayed in Iran for a while, in the last quarter of 17th century A.D., has mentioned to the export of Kerman rugs to India. He has also noticed, that rugs known as Turkish in European markets, have been woven generally in Kerman and more in Systan, but were entered into Europe via Turkey.

History The limits of the Achaemenian territory in the reign of Dariush I (522-485BC)., extended from the plain of Sand river in the east to the borders of Greece at the west. Passargad and Persepolis are the vestiges of this period and are amongst the most important historical places as well as the significant tourism attractions of Iran.Thousands of tourists visit these places annually. After the decline of the Achaemenian dynasty, and destruction of Persepolis by Alexander, his successors (Solookis) dominated over Iran for a short time. During this period the interaction of Iranian and Hellenic cultures happened. Around the year 250 BC. the Parthians, who were one of Aryan tribes as well as horse riders, advanced from Khorasan towards the west and south-west and founded their empire over Iran plateau in Teesfoon. This empire sustained till the year 224AD. The Sassanides, after defeating the last Parthian king in 225 AD, founded a new empire which lasted till mid 7th century AD. The ancient period of Iran (Persia), regarding its political, social, and cultural characteristics, is one of the most magnificent epochs of Iranian history. Out of this era, there have remained so many cultural heritage and historical buildings in Persepolis, Passargad, Susa (Shoosh), Shooshtar, Hamedan, Mrvdasht (Naghsh-e-Rostam), Tahgbostan, Sarvestan, and Nayshabour which are worth-seeing. Emergence and influence in Iran happened in early 7th century AD., after the decline of Sassanide Empire.
