Native Language Education Network (NLEN)
http://www.sedl.org/xculture/native/nlen.html

Created by the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (SEDL), the Native Language Education Network (NLEN) web site provides information and relevant historical facts regarding the preservation of Indigenous languages and how education can further this goal. This web site explores recent language preservation initiatives and policy effecting Indigenous languages. The site also highlights existing efforts to maintain Indigenous languages in SEDL's five state region (Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma) and elsewhere in the United States. The goals of the NLEN project were established as a result of a task force of American Indians in SEDL's region. The web site concludes with links to other resources related to Indigenous language education.

This is a list of mailing lists, also known as "listservs." They are email discussion groups dedicated to topics of interest to educators. Each "subscriber" may contribute to the ongoing discussion, and any contributions are automatically forwarded to everyone on the list. To network among educators I suggest subscribing to one or several of the many mailrings available at The Teacher's Net . They have separate mailrings for each grade, along with specialty rings. It is the best source available in my opinion.

http://jawbone.clarkston.wednet.edu/pages/Listservs.html
Using Listservs
If you have an email address, you can subscribe to a discussion list. There are lists for almost every interest. Like newsgroups everyone can participate. But unlike newsgroups, these messages arrive in your email folder. Some of these lists may be very active generating 30 or 40 messages each day. You will want to check your messages frequently. Or, you can set a digest mode for most lists that will give you one long message each day.
The place to check for mailing lists is called Liszt
Check here for lists specifically for Washington teachers.

Educational Listservs
These are lists hosted by OSPI for the most part. You can sign up for them right on the web. To subscribe to most lists you send an email message to the address of the list provided below with a blank message line. In the body you usually issue the command
subscribe (listname) First Name Last Name
This varies but if it doesn't work, the list should send you back a page of instructions for joining the list. Once you have joined, you will receive another message telling you the most common commands such as setting digest, nomail, and unsubscribing. Don't lose that list.

19. Guide To Anthropology Resources On The Internet
NativeNet Information Server(Web site), is an electronic database project with somevaluable information about contemporary indigenous peoples and is listservs.
http://www.ualberta.ca/~slis/guides/anthro/anthro.htm
Anthropology Resources on the Internet
This guide was constructed, by Sean Beckett and Tanis Stenback, to partially fulfill the requirements of a Library and Information Studies Internet course at the University of Alberta. Its intended audience is that body of undergraduate and graduate students and faculty who are actively involved in the study of anthropology. Go to Table of Contents Anthropology is the study of human beings. The word is derived from the ancient Greek anthropos (man) and logos (science study of). It is a holistic science in the sense that it encompasses all apsects of human life, including social behaviour, language, kinship, prehistory, material remains, and biology. Therefore, this discipline takes into consideration the research done in practically all academic fields relating to people, and applies it within an anthropological framework. It has traditionally been divided into four subdisciplines: archaeology, sociocultural , linguistic and biological (physical) anthropology. Links to resources in each subdiscipline are located below.
Table of Contents
How To Use This Guide
This subject guide categorizes Internet resources in anthropology into four general sections: Archaeology, sociocultural, linguistic and biological anthropology. Within each discipline resources are included that provide information in a variety of different formats. Examples of these are listservs, newsgroups, and links to sites of anthropological interest. Listservs are discussion groups that are a means of implementing a forum for the exchange of ideas. They are very useful for keeping up to date in a particular field. To subscribe to a listserv discussion group the standard method is to send an e-mail message containing the following message: "SUBSCRIBE list-name your-first-name your-last-name." Newsgroups are similar to listservs in that they are a means of implementing discussion, but they are available through "news servers", that make information available to "news readers" who can selectively browse through messages to locate the discussion that they find of interest.
