Guatemala
In 2002, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute initiated cooperation with the Unit for Indigenous Peoples Rights at the Human Rights Ombudsman Office in Guatemala (PDH). The cooperation encompasses two main areas: The production of Training Guides and information materials and a training programme on the human rights of indigenous peoples.
  • Training Guides/Information materials
  • The training programme consists of four human rights training sessions, each of the duration of five days. These sessions will target two separate groups divided into three- plus two-day modules conducted consecutively. These will consist of two-day modules for civil servants working within the administration of justice, e.g. judges, prosecutors, police as well as representatives from the health and education sector. Staff of the PDH will also participate in these training sessions. The project also includes three five-day human rights training sessions specifically targeting representatives of indigenous organisations and NGOs working with indigenous issues. http://www.derechos.org/nizkor/guatemala/pdh/
