41. About The Dental Practice Of Dr. Pohl Boca Raton Florida Cosmetic Dentist
preventive, basic restorative, full mouth reconstruction, implants, oral surgery, periodontal therapy, root canal therapy, TMJ, and cosmetic dentistry.
http://www.bocaratoncosmeticdentist.com/about_us.html
Clinical Excellence: Cosmetic Dentistry
Our office provides a full range of dental treatments, including preventive, basic restorative, full mouth reconstruction, implants, oral surgery, periodontal therapy, root canal therapy, TMJ, and cosmetic dentistry.
Preventive Dentistry
Preventive dentistry is our goal for every patient. We start with a comprehensive examination for every patient. We examine their teeth, gums and bone. The occlusion (bite) is evaluated for signs of bruxism and premature wear of the teeth. The last part of our examination is a head and neck oral cancer screening. It is important to remember that preventive dentistry involves daily care, good nutrition, and periodic check-ups and cleanings to maintain good dental health. Preventive dentistry may not be where we start with every patient, but it's where we like to finish.
Restorative Dentistry
Restorative dentistry is basic repair of the mouth. We replace broken or leaking fillings, treat decayed teeth, build crowns and bridges, fit partial and full dentures, and realign your bite. Many of our simple restorative procedures can usually be performed with the Waterlase Laser , meaning virtually no pain, no vibration, and no need for anesthetic.

Instructions after Dental Implants and Oral Surgery
    Dental Implants
    Swelling
: In some cases, puffiness and swelling may result and should not
cause alarm. This may be kept at a minimum by holding an ice bag on the outside of the face, adjacent to the surgical to area for the first 6-8 hours after your visit. Leave it on for 15 minutes, then off for 15 minutes. Bleeding: It is normal for saliva to be slightly streaked with blood. In order to stop bleeding, place a moist piece of gauze or cold wet squeezed tea bag over the surgical site and bit down for 20 minutes. Repeat if necessary. Keep fingers and tongue away from surgical site. Rinses: Do not rinse mouth until the following day. On the morning following surgery, rinse mouth thoroughly with Peridex, Listerine, or warm salt water (1/2 teaspoon salt + 6 oz. warm water). Repeat this after each meal or the first two weeks. Denture: Dentures should not be worn until the denture has been relined or adjusted. Insertion of dentures too early may jeopardize a successful healing process .

For additional information, contact Dr. Richard Burton at 319-356-7229 or Dr. Richard Burton The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery offers a four-year, fully accredited residency training program yeilding both a certificate and M.S. degree. Upon completion of study, the resident is eligible for examination leading to certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Optional degrees in addition to the oral and maxillofacial surgery certificate are offered by special arrangement, including M.D. and Ph.D. The goal of this residency is to provide the highest level of training in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, and to insure development of skilled surgeons capable of providing continuing, comprehensive care. The program boasts a strong academic flavor with a high priority given to research. Three primary teaching facilities are utilized to provide educational and patient care experiences: 1) The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC), 2) The University of Iowa College of Dentistry, and 3) the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. All three facilities are a part of the UIHC complex and are in close physical proximity; they are undeniably among the very best and well-equipped in the country. To assure training and exposure in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, outside rotations are provided at the expense of the department. Rotations are further outlined under curriculum.
