immunology, Medicine
Related Category: Medicine immunology, branch of medicine that studies the response of organisms to foreign substances, e.g., viruses bacteria , and bacterial toxins (see immunity ). Immunologists study the tissues and organs of the immune system (bone marrow, spleen tonsils , thymus, lymphatic system ), its specialized cells (e.g., B and T lymphocytes and antibodies ), and the influence of genetic, nutritional, and other factors on the immune system. They also study disease-causing organisms to determine how they injure the host and help to develop vaccines (see vaccination In addition to studying the normal workings of the immune system, immunologists study unwanted immune responses such as allergies , essentially immunological responses of the body to substances or organisms that, as a rule, do not affect most people, and autoimmune diseases (e.g., rheumatoid

he Reproductive Medicine Program is committed to helping couples who have experienced recurrent pregnancy losses, unexplained infertility, repeated IVF-ET failures, history of 2nd or 3rd trimester pregnancy losses of unknown etiology, and pregnancy with a history or active autoimmune disease, to achieve a successful pregnancy. The program was established at the Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in 1987. For the past 15 years, the program has provided evaluation and treatment to patients experiencing reproductive failures who are all over the world through ongoing scientific laboratory and clinical research. While attempting pregnancy, we co-manage patients with their reproductive endocrinologist or primary gynecologist. Once pregnancy occurs, we co-manage with their obstetricians or high risk obstetricians. Learn More About the Program

http://www.ln.com.ua/~janintas/sessions_2.html
SESSIONS 2: Modelling in biology, immunology, medicine. Analysis of reserve possibilities of functional systems. During one decade after Chernobyl accident, the various projects, connected with study of ecological, medical, biological and epidemiological consequences of the accident were financed by different international organisations and funds (CEC, EEC, INTAS, TACIS, IAEA and other). On the first stage the researches of epidemiological character were carried out.
This is obviously, as first-turn problem was estimation of accident scale, revealing the number of suffering, determination of their distribution in dependence on pollution level, study of risk of occurrence and dynamics of diseases to prognosticate the epidemiological situation. Those problems occurred before both countries, directly suffering in a result of Chernobyl accident, and international community.
Analysis of obtained results was conducted on some international forums in Minsk, Vienna, Beer-Sheva and others. The main conclusions about influence of negative consequences of Chernobyl reduced to constation of following fact. There is real sharp growth of number of thyroid gland illness (mainly, papillar cancer among children). In the same time the data, permitting to make determinate conclusions about significant influence of Chernobyl on growth of number of leucoses and other illnesses are absent. This is result of “epidemiological” stage of investigation of medical consequences of Chernobyl.
