      Greening Schools Grant Program
      As part of Governor Blagojevich's Safe and Healthy Schools Initiative, the Illinois EPA has created a special grant program to fund environmental improvement ("greening") projects and activities at K-12 schools in Illinois. Funding for selected projects will be available to purchase products and/or equipment that will improve indoor environmental conditions, reduce waste and enhance energy efficiency. Grants will generally range from $500 to $2,500. To apply, schools must complete a grant application form including a summary of the proposed project, requested budget amount, expected results and timelines, and how success will be measured. A one page final report will be required within 90 days of completion of the project or activity.

    217.265.0460 fax URBANA, IL Lieutenant Governor Bob Kustra today announced the creation of TECH CORPS ILLINOIS, a statewide initiative to provide hands-on support to local school districts as they move forward in their technology efforts. Kustra made the announcement as he met with students, faculty and business partners at Urbana High School, which along with the Champaign school district, are two of a dozen districts participating in the pilot program of TECH CORPS in Illinois. "Today we launch TECH CORPS ILLINOIS with a call for parents and members of the business community to join us in becoming part of a volunteer corps dedicated to wiring schools for the future and bringing technology advances into the classroom," said Kustra, who serves as Chairman of TECH CORPS in Illinois. "Our mission will be to give schools a pool of technology-literate volunteers "people" resources who can help turn the vision of a 21st century classroom into a reality."
