The Literacy Mission The Illinois Adult Learning Hotline , 1-800-321-9511, a statewide referral system which links prospective students or volunteers to local literacy and adult education programs. The ADULT LITERACY GRANT PROGRAM encompasses the following areas: The Adult Volunteer Literacy Tutoring Project The Family Literacy Projec t provides instructional services to parents and children to enhance their basic reading, math, writing or language skills together and separately. Participation by the whole family increases the benefits of the instruction. Projects must partner with an adult literacy provider agency, child-at-risk agency and a library. In FY03, 37 projects served 960 parents and 1,628 children.

In March of 1995 the Department of Natural Resources, as recommended by Conservation Congress, created the Division of Education as a part of the Office of Land Management and Education . The Division of Education is responsible for the development, training, and dissemination of educational programs and events; and for providing hands-on outdoor education and recreational programming for park visitors. The Division works closely with educators, state agencies and other groups to ensure that environmental education goals are being met. The Division administers mandated hunting, trapping, boating and snowmobile safety education programs as well as adult advanced Safety Education Programs. IVHS Course Costs (Updated 9/8/03) One Semester Course - $175 Summer Term - $120 AP Review Course - $39 ACT Preparation Course (New provider this year) - $39 New Schools: Try IVHS for Free! The first 100 schools new to IVHS during the 2003-2004 school, will have an opportunity to try IVHS for free. Each school will automatically receive 2 semesters of free enrollment enough for one student to take an online course for the entire year. Additional students from new schools are welcome and encouraged, but will be charged the regular course fee. IVHS Scholarship Opportunities Schools with at least 25% students qualifying for Free and Reduced Lunch receive 2 AP and 2 non-AP Courses per semester and 4 AP Review Courses. (Scholarships are awarded by the local school.) IVHS may award individual scholarships based on financial need.
