Vocabulary Learning Resources on the World Wide Web
Kenji Kitao and S. Kathleen Kitao
(Last updated on August 23,2000) The Internet has a great many resources for learning English. Among these many resources are ones that can help you improve your vocabulary. In this chapter, you will learn about the types of resources that are available and be introduced to some specific web pages. There are four basic types of sites on the web related to vocabulary learning. They are lists of links (which you can use to find other useful sites), web pages with games or quizzes to help you learn English words, web pages with information about English words and/or advice about how to learn English vocabulary, and reference works such as dictionaries and thesauruses. In this chapter, we will introduce examples of each of the types of resource. For each web page, the name of the page is listed first, followed by the web site address (URL) and in some cases, a further description that we have written of the web site.
