Founded in 1934, The International School Nido de Aguilas is a private, non-profit, co-educational college preparatory day school that serves approximately 1100 students from more than 40 nationalities in grades pre-K through 12. Nido de Aguilas is fully accredited by the Chilean Ministry of Education, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States, and offers the full International Baccalaureate Diploma. The school is the official U.S. State Department Office of Overseas Education school in Chile, and serves the international business and diplomatic community as well as host country national students seeking a North American style of education. The school is governed by a Board of Directors.
Santiago, the nation's capital as well as educational, business, industrial, and cultural center, is the home of approximately six million people. The national language is Spanish.
Facilities include six laboratories, four computer labs, four art studios, two music rooms, seventy-three classrooms, three counseling centers, a college placement center, a gymnasium, and a media center which houses two libraries, audio-visual aids, in addition to instructional and conference facilities. The campus is fully on-line and students have access to computers throughout the school. The language of instruction is English at all levels.
Maintaining a college preparatory focus, the high school offers courses that lead to three different diplomas: the U.S. High School Diploma, the National Chilean Diploma, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Over thirty IB Courses are offered in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Art, Drama, and Computer Science. Nearly all graduates attend colleges or universities.

SISTER LIBRARIES:
A WHITE HOUSE MILLENNIUM COUNCIL PROJECT
The National Commission on Libraries and Information Science and Sister Cities International have embarked on a major initiative, Sister Libraries: A White House Millennium Council Project. The initial goal is for public and school libraries in the United States to pair with others worldwide, focusing on programs specifically planned for children and teenagers. Participating libraries, such as the ones listed here, receive recognition and designation as official White House Millennium Council Sister Libraries, but the project does not provide funds for staff, equipment or materials. Many Sister Libraries are in locations that are already affiliated through Sister Cities International, an organization for sister city, county and state programs in the United States. SCI is the official agency that links communities from the United States with communities worldwide. The Sister Library programs will do much to encourage multicultural exchange and broaden international understanding enabling young people to appreciate more fully their own place in, and impact on, the world of today and tomorrow!
