    of the Department of Geology and Geography
    at the University of Iceland! We offer English-speaking students a one year program in Earth Sciences for foreign students. The program consists of a general introductory course, followed by several courses which deal with topics of specific relevance to Icelandic conditions, covering geological, geophysical and geographical processes. More information about the program is found here . Prospective students can also contact the University's International Office Otherwise it is possible to study for a BS-degree (90 credits) in either geology, geography or tourism studies. These subjects can also be studied as 30-credit minor subjects with various others. Tourism studies are likewise offered to an independent 45-credit diploma. The language of instruction in undergraduate courses is Icelandic. Studying for a Masters or a doctoral degree is also possible at the department. The lecturing staff now includes five geologists and six geographers, three adjuncts, plus several part-time lecturers. In recent years, 10-20 students have enrolled in geology each year, 20-30 in geography, and 50-80 in tourism studies.
