MOTOR SPORTS
MOTOR SPORTS Motorcycle Tired of the long and exhausting hitchhiking legs in 1956 I got a 250cc Jawa motorcycle. It made the journey to the Alps and especially moving there from place to place much more convenient. A year later I could not escape from participating in some motorbike races like the International 3 Days' Trial. In spite of the name the race was not any trial, but true enduro. For me it was certainly not a success. Later on I saw the delivery van of the Koneliike on the roadside of a small hill. They represented the Jawa bikes in Finland and were there to help the 'professional' Jawa drivers. I wanted to show them how a privateer could drive and zoomed up the hill. The men in their bright overalls waved with hands, and I thought they were encouraging me. Only too late did I realize that immediately after the hilltop the road curved strongly to the right. The bike skidded to the side of the road and into the ditch, and before that I was flying head first against the other side of the ditch. Probably I lost consciousness for a time, but then I was pulling the bike back to the road. The Koneliike guys came running to help me and saw the situation. They invited me to their service, gave something refreshing to drink and at the same time tried to straighten the distorted handlebar. Only when they found out that I had recovered a bit they let me continue the ride.

Smart Players Protect Their Eyes: Canada Safety Council Dr. Tom Pashby has been keeping track of sports-related eye injuries since 1972. Ice-hockey players sign Sweden's first collective agreement in sport
A collective agreement for 250 top ice-hockey players, the first in professional sport in Sweden, was concluded in October 1999 by the Salaried Employees' Union on behalf of the players, and by the Employers' Alliance on behalf of the clubs. The deal contains significant variations from statutory provisions on issues such as working time, holidays and negotiation rights. On 28 October 1999, Sweden's first-ever collective agreement in top-level professional" sport" was concluded by the Elite Ice Hockey Subcommittee of the Sport Sector Committee of the Employers' Alliance ( Arbetsgivaralliansen ) and the Salaried Employees' Union ( Tjänstemannaförbundet HTF HTF ). The agreement governs the working conditions for the 250 (male) "elite" ice hockey players and is valid until 27 October 2001. The Employers' Alliance ( Arbetsgivaralliansen ) is an independent confederation for employers in areas such as sporting and educational associations. It has 1,500 employers in membership, mostly among sport associations. Sports professionals may join HTF, which has about 155,000 members in the private service sector, of whom 22% work in organisations and associations in sport and other areas.

    (1) women-in-hockey mailing list
The women-in-hockey mailing list on the plaidworks.com server was created to allow people to discuss anything having to do with women playing ice, street, or roller hockey, or who are somehow involved in these sports. People interested in getting involved with these sports and/or playing are also welcome. This list is not limited to women only, but to anyone interested in women's hockey. This is a regular e-mailing list where anyone who is subscribed to this list will receive all e-mail messages sent by other people subscribed to the list. This mailing list is generally quite busy, especially during the hockey season, and is generally considered THE mailing list for women's hockey. I'd highly suggest subscribing. One question that you will be asked when you subscribe to the list, using the link above, is "Would you like to receive list mail batched in a daily digest?" I would suggest selecting "Yes." Let me explain what this means. If you select "No" you will receive each message in a separate e-mail message, but if you select "Yes" to sign up for the digest version you will receive one message each day that contains all messages sent that day. Since there may be 15 to 20 messages sent each day, I highly recommend the digest form of the mailing list, as it makes the amount of e-mail received from the list quite manageable.

Welcome to the premier site of women's hockey on the web! I am pleased to introduce the new home of the women's hockey web pages at www.whockey.com. These web pages were formerly part of Andria Hunter's homepage Hockey has always been my passion. I've been playing since I was 8 years old, at many different levels, including university hockey in the USA and in Canada, in the Swiss women's league, on the Canadian national team (92 and 94), and in the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). I first started the Women's Hockey Web site in 1994. My motivation at that time was that there was no women's hockey information on the web at all. The web site has proven a fun way to give back to the sport I love! Some of the information on this site is provided by the readers of this site. If you have any information to add, or corrections to make, don't hesitiate to send e-mail to andria@whockey.com , or to send a message through the women's hockey guestbook . Since the birth of my daughter, I haven't been making updates as regularly, but I'm planning to get back to it! I currently do not have a major sponsor for these web pages. Oldest Collegiate Competition Renewed Saturday

It is the oldest collegiate athletic competition. Football at Yale did not exist and there was no baseball diamond on campus. Sports Illustrated named this event the most venerable rivalry in college sports. There have been 138 meetings since 1852, which makes this year's event the 152nd anniversary. There are three rowing competitions, one of which is the longest race anywhere. It's the Yale-Harvard Regatta and the next one is Saturday, June 12. ( more
~ W Ice Hockey Three Key Players Added as Part of Class of 2008 The 2003-2004 season was one of Yale's best in recent memory, as the Bulldogs tied the school record for wins (12) and set the school record for ECAC wins (8). With every player who scored a goal last season returning, along with record-setting goaltender Sarah Love, Yale has every reason to expect another big step forward. The Class of 2008 should be a key part of that, as it consists of two defensemen (including a US U-22 National teamer) and a standout goaltender who should be ready to step in for Love when needed.
