People have worshiped the Sun and Gods who represent the Sun for all of recorded history . Hence, many beliefs and legends have been formed around this worship. Sun gods are generally (though not always) male, and usually the brother, father, husband and/or enemy of the lunar deity (usually female). They were often gods of truth, honesty, virtue, prophecy, intellect and fertility. Solar Deities

Aside from some minor epics and fragments, Arany s poetic recreation ofhungarian mythology is the most memorable in Death of Buda (1863).
http://www.oszk.hu/kiadvany/hsr/2000/myth.htm
I. Myth:
The Foundation of Historical Consciousness Myth has several definitions - partly because there are several kinds of myth. Generally, it can be defined as an independent story, or a set of interrelated ones, which explains humanity's place in the universe and society. Each myth is the product of a certain culture; therefore, it reflects the values and the frame of reference of a specific society. While classical myths transfer the familiar human world onto a magical and allegorical plane, in their more recent forms myths can narrate seemingly quite authentic events in a realistic manner. This definition is suited to the readings pertinent to our studies. There are two major mythological themes. One deals with the origins and order of the world, and introduces divine characters. Hungarians did not have such myths, nor an explanation for the creation of mankind. Little is known about the Magyars' ancient religion - it is assumed that, unlike other ancient peoples, they worshipped a single God. Their rich mythological tradition relies on the other major theme: the deeds of human heroes who represent a cultural consciousness and ethos. Perhaps it is their vivid, realistic narrative that has made these mythical stories dear to Hungarians. At the threshold of general literacy, historians often lacked earlier models to follow, and had to rely on tales or - if available - accounts from foreign sources. Such was the dilemma that Anonymous, already mentioned in the introduction, faced. As an early historian, he claimed credit not only for recording the naive tales of country people but also for being the first one to turn to written sources. Yet, his Latin chronicle actually made lavish use of the oral tradition still flourishing in his time - that is, in the very first years of the thirteenth century.

The Origin of the Legend of the White Stag
The Legend of the Wonderous Hind
By Fred Hámori . Adapted with permission from his site " The Legend of the Stag " . Scouting Ceremonies and Spirit and Traditions Ceremonies in Junior Leader Training Finding a Theme The Purpose in Ceremonies When Ceremonies are Appropriate ... Fun Songs The Hungarian Legend of the Wondrous Stag is one of the oldest legends of the nation. It is so old that it is found in various forms among those nations who were the distant relatives or neighbors of the Hungarians, long before their settlement in Hungary. The meaning and the wording of the legends may have changed slightly but they all have much in common. Today the remaining legend is relatively short, whereas in the past it was probably much more extensive. However the Hungarian legend despite it's brevity includes in it many important points some of which can be found in most of the related legends found in other cultures. It is these points which show that once, in the remote antiquity, these people were neighbors or some were even related. The symbol of the cosmos and the mother of the sun was symbolized as a large horned female doe. The great horned doe often was shown carrying the sun in her horns, in some cases the sun itself was symbolized as a stag the son of the doe of the legend. The following Christmas song told by the Hungarian regos (bards) illustrate the stag as the carrier of the sun.

THE GRAND DESTINY OF SEAR BLISS
One of the blackened gems coming out from Red Stream Records is Grand Destiny by Sear Bliss of Hungary. Dark, extreme metal may be heard from this unique bandand there is even a mighty horn section involved! Curious? Read on...
Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Sear Bliss, and how long the band has been together. I'm Andras and I play the bass and do the vocals in Sear Bliss. I formed the band in 1993 so next year will be the 10th anniversary of Sear Bliss. What is the music scene like in Hungary and are there a lot of places for metal bands to play? Is it difficult to get gigs outside of Hungary? Hungary is quite a small country so the scene is small too but there are some very promising and unique bands in every genre of metal over here. Yes, there are a couple of good clubs where the metal bands can play. Since people are really enthusiastic at the gigs in Hungary, it's always good to play over here. Fortunately for Sear Bliss it's not difficult to get gigs outside of Hungary. We toured Europe with Marduk in 1997 and it was a good start. Since then we have many contacts so we play in Holland, Germany, Belgium, etc. each year. Now we are planning an European tour in October." What is the story behind the title Grand Destiny? Is it a concept album and where did you get the ideas for the lyrics?

Nagy was also responsible for the rear of the theatre, depicting TheHunting of the Magic Deer, a classic tale of hungarian mythology.
http://www.eurotravelling.net/hungary/veszprem/veszprem_culture.htm
ADVERTISING INFORMATION Veszprem - Culture T he town of Veszprem lies on a dolomite plateau, on the border of two regions, between the forest-covered slopes of the Bakony Hills and the sunny Balaton-uplands, rich in fruit and grapes. Veszprem is built on a ledge, in which ravine-like valleys were cut by Brook Sed, thus dividing the land into low hills. That is why Veszprem is said to be built on seven hills - just like many other towns of ours. The seven hills are as follows: Varhegy (Castle Hill), Benedek-hegy (St Benedict's Hill), Jeruzsalem-hegy (Jerusalem Hill), Temetohegy (Cemetery Hill), Gulyadomb (Herd Hill), Kalvaria-domb (Calvary Hill), Cserhat. Twisting, narrow streets, flights of stairs and tiny houses are accumulated one over the other. Flowery gardens are bordered by rubble-work fences. Willows throw shadow on the banks of Sed, once bordered by mills. Every corner and doorway offers a surprise. The Bishop's Palace designed by Jakab Fellner, built in 1767. The latest restoration of it was completed in 1997. The Archiepiscopal Archives can also be found in the building, where almost two thousand documents from the 11-14th century are housed. These ancient documents are really precious for all of us, especially for researchers, who can get information about the life of the age and the inhabitants of the surrounding villages. The Archiepiscopal Library prides itself on 60.000 volumes. The collection was based by Bishop Marton Padanyi Biro, who enriched it with 600 books. In 1751 he had a catalogue of the books made, so when he sent his report to Pope Benedict XIV he could proudly mention the collection in it.

Beware his many forms!) Although, personally, I don't believe in the devil, I find it amusing that people are so reluctant to take responsibility for their actions that they invented a scapegoat. The theme is popular across a broad range of cultures and languages, so he has (she has?) accumulated a lot of names. I thought it would be fun to collect a list of names (there are currently 57), so that you can select the most appropriate one when the need arises. I wonder... does anyone or anything else have this many names? All of these forms refer to only the head honcho- no littler demons, sprites, or minions here (sorry billg). Singing the Cordon Blues
by Robert Bell
Now that my wife and I have two full-time jobs and a child, I must learn to cook.
I've been postponing cooking for a long time. I pleaded for an exemption on religious grounds: if the good lord wanted men mucking around in the kitchen, he wouldn't have given women little callused fingertips to hold hot food.
I argued on pragmatic grounds that people of all political persuasions, creeds, and ilks have maintained the sexual division of labor. My wife ran the kitchen and tended the garden while I hunted elephants; she shopped twice a week and I rotated the automobile tires annually. In this way we maintained mutual respect and could each claim to be a credit to his or her gender.
I argued in terms of genetic inheritance. To me it seemed evident, despite fashionable opinions to the contrary, that people inherit interests and skills. I myself was not born to cook. There are always too many things to remember and I become confused under pressure. It wasn't pure theory that persuaded me that skills are inherited. It was also practical experience in Organic Chemistry lab.
I set a modern day Dartmouth record for lowest score on a final examination by a non-football player. I got off on the wrong foot, if you can get "off on," by trying to brown-nose the lab assistant. He was a senior chem major with a straight A average. "Jeez, Cedric," I lick-spittled, :with that GPA, what med school will you go to?" He replied with pure disdain, "Med school? I'm not a mechanic. I'm a scientist!"

Feast day of St Hubert of Liege (Belgium) (Born c. 656; died at Fura (the modern Tervueren), Brabant, 30 May, 727 or 728.) St Hubert of Liege (pictured at left), who is believed to have been the son of Bertrand, Duke of Guienne in Belgium, is the patron saint of hunters, metal-workers and mathematicians. He spent so much of his time and energies hunting, thereby neglecting his religious duties, that one day in the woods, a stag bearing a crucifix threatened him with eternal damnation if he did not mend his ways. On a Good Friday morning, when the religious were crowding the churches, Hubert instead went out hunting. As he pursued a magnificent stag, the animal turned and, according to the legend, he was astounded to see a crucifix between its antlers. Hubert heard a voice saying: “Hubert, unless thou turnest to the Lord, and leadest an holy life, thou shalt quickly go down into
