41. Literature Relationships Between Hungary And Estonia
Literature relationships between Hungary and Estonia. The first translations of hungarian literature into Estonian were made at the end of the last century.
http://www.suri.ee/inf/valtoni.html
Literature relationships between Hungary and Estonia Arvo Valton Affinity, above all, is being aware of affinity. Generally, the voice of blood starts to appeal if such awareness exists. A clearer awareness of affinity of Finno-Ugrian nations emerged only at the last century. First assumptions by linguists about affinity of Hungarian and Lappish languages were rather shocking for the most part of the Hungarian society. The knowledge that one or another Finno-Ugrian nation is not an exceptional relic in this world became one of the pivots of our self-consciousness probably only in this century. Providing actual support – no matter how moderate – to each other has turned into a practice only in the recent times. So far, a smaller nation’s eyes continue to be fixed with hope on a bigger nation. Generous care for one’s weaker sisters still remains a rarity, as well as cognition that supporting smaller ones makes us greater both in our and the world’s opinion. After the World War I, Hungary was one of the first countries to recognise the Republic of Estonia, though the whim of history was to have them on opposite sides in the battle. One of the first trade agreements of the young Estonian Republic was concluded with Hungary – notwithstanding that, earlier, tangible trade relations were rather modest. One of the reason, indeed, was the awareness of affinity. It is worth to note that the solidarity of Finno-Ugrian nations is based on the idea of importance of the proximity of languages rather than that of blood or race. This is probably the reason why numerous joint projects in the areas of language, literature, traditional art and education have been paid special attention.

Staff Scholars Two New Kluge Fellows Selected By PEGGY PEARLSTEIN Brian P. Taves, a senior cataloger in the Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division (MBRS), and Eniko M. Basa, a senior cataloger in the Serial Record Division, have been selected as the Library’s next Kluge Staff Fellows. Beginning on Oct. 1, Taves and Basa will begin their residency in the Library’s Kluge Center for a period of up to 12 months. Normally, the Kluge Center awards only one Kluge Staff Fellowship annually, but this year, Librarian of Congress James H. Billington concurred with the outside review committee’s suggestion that more than one staff fellowship be awarded because the quality of the applicant pool was so high, said Carolyn Brown, assistant librarian for library services. Taves will research the papers of producer, director, screenwriter and actor Thomas Harper Ince (1882-1924). The papers, which are held in the Manuscript Division, were opened for examination two years ago. The collection contains 13,000 items, spans the years 1913-1964, and documents Ince’s work as a producer as well as the business and legal dealings following his death. Supervising the production of some 800 films in 15 years, Ince played an important role in the transformation of Hollywood into an industry. He departmentalized each activity, allowing for detailed advance planning and budgeting to minimize unexpected costs. Because much of his celluloid output has been lost, the most appropriate method of chronicling Ince’s importance to the creation of the industry is to use his papers to compile a business history.

HUNGARY’S LITERARY PRESENCE IN GERMANY IN 1999
here are two great anniversaries giving frame to the central theme of the Frankfurt Book Fair that is entitled “Hungary without Boundaries”. In the year 2000 Hungary celebrates the millennium of the formation of the state – it was a thousand years ago that Pope Sylvester sent the crown to Saint Stephen, our first king. Hungarians, that in major part were still heathens, were then admitted to belong to the Christian Europe. The other jubilee could be summed up by the expression “ten years of democracy and European integration”. After communist leader János Kádár resented his position in April 1989 the gradual and sometimes conflict-evoking formation of democratic institutions and political parties as well as the gradual decomposition of the communist dictatorship started. The Hungarian Republic was proclaimed on 23 rd October 1989 and the first free elections after those in 1947 were run in March/April 1990.

B C D ... Z by birthday from the calendar Credits and feedback Endre Ady (1877-1919) Poet, journalist, short story writer, who took the role of "the conscience of the Hungarian nation," prophesying spiritual rebirth or pessimistically the destruction of "Everything". Ady is best-known for his daring works celebrating sensual love, but he also wrote religious and revolutionary poems. His expression was radical in form, language and content, mixing eroticism, politics, and biblical style and images with apocalyptic visions. oh I have lived a disgusting life,
oh I have lived a disgusting life;
I shall be such a pretty corpse,
I shall be such a pretty corpse.
(from 'The Last Smile') During these years Ady started to write and consume alcohol seriously. After graduating he entered a law school but abandoned his studies for a newspaper post in Debrecen. Versek In 1903 he published his first significant volume of poetry, , and made frequent visits to Hungary, Italy, and elsewhere. Between the years 1908 and 1919, he was closely associated with the journal Nyugat , which kept him in the public eye. The journal published works from some of the best writers of the era, and took a major role in fostering the emergence of modern Hungarian literature.

Bungei Club for Hungarian Literature
On the occasion of the Previous Hungarian Festival in 1992, several translators of Hungarian Literature, Folk Tales and History were in charge of its symposium of Hungarian Culture. Dual Central Eurasian Studies MA and School of Public and Environmental Affairs MPA Degree Requirements
The Department of Central Eurasian Studies (CEUS) and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) jointly offer a three-year program that qualifies students for a dual master’s degree. The dual degree program is a 60 credit hour program which addresses the demand for specialists who combine expertise in public policy and management and area studies expertise in the countries of Eurasia. Students must separately apply to and be accepted into both the CEUS Master of Arts degree program and the SPEA Master of Public Affairs degree program. Indicate on both application forms that you are applying for the CEUS-SPEA dual degree. Because CEUS and SPEA are in separate schools within Indiana University, students will be officially enrolled in only one school at a time. Students will alternate school affiliation so that students will be formally "housed" in each school for three semesters. School affiliation in no way restricts course enrollment. Students can concurrently enroll in CEUS and SPEA courses. Do you have a question? Check out the
