HTML Intermediate Guide
Whereas the purpose of the HTML Beginner's Guide was to teach the bare essentials , this guide adds a few nuts and bolts, which shouldn't be particularly difficult as such, but will add a bit more to our understanding of HTML and enable us to do a few more things. The Intermediate and Advanced Guides are not designed to be followed in any particular order - each page should stand alone.

http://www.xtinalamb.co.uk/training/outlines/HTML2.htm
Training HTML Intermediate Course Description A course to extend beyond basic technical HTML skills and learn techniques, workarounds and good practice in building web page layouts. HTML (Hyper Text Mark-up Language) is the language used to create web pages. Authoring packages create code automatically and sometimes this leads to mistakes or unexpected results. Without HTML knowledge it is hard to fix troublesome pages or extend pages with features beyond the limitations of the software. This course gives delegates greater understanding of the possibilities of HTML and introduces the benefits of working closer with code. This course may be run as one or two days depending on topics required.
If the aims or topics you require are not listed in this description, please contact Christina to see if the training can be adapted to include them. training@xtinalamb.co.uk

Tables
Tables may have seemed complicated enough in the HTML Beginner's Guide . It can be quite difficult to visualise a two-dimensional grid from one-dimensional lines of code. Well, it gets trickier. All thanks to the rowspan and colspan attributes. Those bastards. The following code is similar to that in the Tables page of the HTML Beginner's Guide Column 1 heading Column 2 heading Column 3 heading colspan="2" rowspan="2" Firstly, we have replaced the td tags of the first row with th tags. Whereas a td is a standard data cell, th is a header cell. As with the td tag, these tags must be enclosed in tr tags. We have also used colspan and rowspan attributes in some of the td tags. If you look at this code in a browser, you will see that on the second row there are now two cells instead of three, the second cell spanning the second and third column. The colspan attribute, which means 'column span' will span the cell over the number of cells that is specified. This means, in this example, that there is no need for a third td tag - one cell is merged into two.

(beginners tutorial)
This is a practical guide to some advanced, but still not terribly complicated, HTML features that can be used to create Web pages with only a word processor (and occasionally some readily available free- or shareware). Some of these techniques require enough tedious tagging that you might want to use an HTML editor to accomplish them, but you don't have to. Here is some information (and some opinions) on HTML editors. In deciding what topics to include in this guide, and at what level to explain them, I am assuming that you have a familiarity at least with the topics covered in my basic HTML guide: Quick and Painless HTML. I do a great deal more referring to other sources in this guide than in the previous one, because some of these topics and techniques are not as familiar to me as basic HTML, and I therefore don't feel qualified to go into the level of detail that some readers might want. Fortunately, there are many wonderful explanatory sites, tutorials and other resources on the Web. After the table of contents below, I have compiled
