HTML Advanced Guide
The aim of the HTML Advanced Guide is to show how to fully exploit the features of HTML and how to optimise it for accessibility. Because the HTML Beginner's Guide and HTML Intermediate Guide take the standpoint of using the latest standard of HTML ( XHTML 1.0+), some aspects of this guide may be unfamiliar to a lot of people who haven't read through the Beginner's and Intermediate guides, which is why there is a Standards Recap page. In general though, the pages in this section assume that you know the ins and outs of HTML and want to exploit it to its full potential.
Contents
  • Standards Recap - Separating meaning from presentation, XHTML tags and attributes and accessibility overviews. Accessible Links - Making hypertext more accessible to users with disabilities. Mastering Text - Using the right tags for the right context. Mastering Tables - Column groups, headers and footers etc. etc. Accessible Forms - Making forms more accessible for users with disabilities.

    Managing Your Layout
    Tables -
Perhaps one of the most common and useful constructs used in Web design. Since early versions of HTML had few page-layout controls, tables emerged as a popular way to exert some control over how objects were displayed in the browser window. Although originally intended as a mechanism for displaying tabular data, tables are commonly used to achieve other typographical effects, such as establishing margins or creating multiple columns of text. Forms - It looks more professional when you allow your visitors to fill in information right on your page rather than using a "mailto:" command, but looks are about it. A form does basically what email does - it sends information. Text boxes and areas, radio buttons, check boxes, drop-downs, pop-ups; these varied types of forms then use the reset or submit button to transmit the values. Frames - In HTML, frames give designers the ability to display multiple pages of content in a single screen. This powerful capability is also one of the most controversial HTML practices and a constant topic of heated discussion among designers. Here's a quick refresher on how to create HTML frames, including an explanation of the related tags, some common applications, and some concerns about using them. Cascading Style Sheets - CSS is a new web technology that gives web authors enhanced control over the look of elements in a web page. Things once considered unchangeable, such as the underline beneath links, the color of form elements, the spacing between text, and more, can now all be altered, thanks to CSS. As good as this technology sounds, its use by web authors is actually very limited at this point. The problem is not CSS, but rather, the browsers used to render it. No browser on the net currently fully supports CSS (including both IE4 and NN4).

    8. Internet Brothers - HTML Advanced Topics - Tables

    http://internetbrothers.com/tables1.htm
    Tables 101
The table tag lets web designers create rows, columns, and cells to display tabular data much like spreadsheets or statistics. But savvy developers quickly came to realize that tables were the missing link in HTML layout control. Always one of the more perplexing issues in web design, page layout suddenly had greater control over placement of images and text with the advent of tables in HTML standard 3.2. By creatively using tables usually not including borders and sometimes nesting tables within other tables a variety of interesting effects can be achieved. A common way to have a page display with margins is to create a three-column borderless table with a width of 100 percent, and put the text in the middle column, using the empty first and third columns as margin space. This gives the designer a mechanism to define exact margin sizes, by specifying the width of the margin columns in pixels. The tag set encloses the table and of course ends with . Common attributes of the table tag are ALIGN to control placement

    HTML Advanced Frames
So you've used simple frame navigation. What else can you do with them?
There are actually quite a list of attributes to the FRAMESET and FRAME tags, which help you control your layout with things like spacing margins and color.
    FRAMESET attributes
Any attribute in the main FRAMESET tag affects all the frames contained within it.
    • FRAMEBORDER="2" sets the width of the frame border in pixels.
    • FRAMESPACING="4" denotes the distance between frames, in pixels.
    • BORDERCOLOR="blue" gives the frame a tasteful bespoke colour (; The thickness of the border depends on what you entered in the BORDER attribute above.

    Invisible Frames
If you want frames, but don't like the default borders and would prefer invisible 'seamless' frames, simply set FRAMEBORDER, FRAMESPACING and BORDER attributes to 0.

    Designing with Frames
    Frames
can make your site easier to navigate, cleaner, faster, and more attractive. They can also be overused and ugly. The code you write to create frames is very simple; the real challenge lies in designing with frames. There is an element on the web that is "anti-frame." These people have some good reasons to discourage frame use. Early implementation of frames had some odd technical quirks that made the reader's experience awkward. In addition, there were many places where frames were poorly applied and made the page confusing and ugly. And that's all the more reason to think about why you are using frames and to explore, through your design process, whether frames are the best solution. What Frames Do
With frames, you can create a user interface to your Web sites. Frames let you:
  • Continually display components without refreshing them. This makes frames an ideal application for a navigational bar that appears throughout your site.

This course builds upon basic HTML and covers XHTML, CSS, and topics such as using multimedia files, submitting your site to a search engine, and code validation, among others. According to the World Wide Web Consortium, XHTML is the successor of HTML. Pages written in XHTML can be read as both XML and HTML, and are thus both backward and forward compatible. Cascading style sheet language (CSS) was developed to specify how HTML and XHTML are displayed. You can change the appearance of every page in your web site simply by editing one style sheet. You’ll learn about XHTML: the next HTML, how to formatting with cascading style sheets (CSS), linking to external style sheets, using style sheets for printing, and many more features of HTML Prerequisite HTML: Introduction

Computer networks evolve technologically which means there is a commercial demand for such development. Five to eight years ago making profit out of a web site was the goal of large companies operating clusters of expensive dedicated servers. Today, small businesses are also present on the web.
That is where we face the issue of web site profitability, something that probably any fellow webmaster is familiar with. As with any business our profits are subject to simple equation: 'profit = income - expenses'. The major article in expenses list is traffic fees. Many of us have come to a thought 'How can I decrease the traffic flow without having to loose my web site visitors?' already.
Let us make a simple calculation. Suppose, there is a graphical logo file with size of 17 Kb. If we serve about 100,000 web pages per month that means we spend 1.7 Gb of traffic just to show this image. Now, what if we were able to optimize this logo image so that it takes only 4 Kb? We would spend 400 Mb of traffic only! Now try applying these numbers to image file sizes of your web site. Impressed?
Introducing Advanced GIF Optimizer, the unique GIF image optimization software intended to make your profits grow, decrease your e-business expenses and speed up pages loading!

Advanced Batch Converter v.3.9 - for Windows 9X/NT/2000/ME/XP
Advanced Batch Converter does exactly what its title suggests, allowing you to easily convert multiple graphics files at the click of a button. More than that, you can also edit images directly in Advanced Batch Converter, to produce a variety of effects (resize, rotate, flip, mirror, crop, filters, morphing effects, color enhancements etc).
The program supports 20 file formats to which you can convert: bmp, rle, dib, jpg, jpeg, jpe, gif, jp2, png, pcx, pbm, tga, pcc, tif, tiff, ico, jng, wbmp, wmf and emf.
The original file can be in practically any current file format, as Advanced Batch Converter has support for over 77 file types: bmp, jpg, gif, png, tif, jpeg, rle, dib, pcd, icb, ico, wmf, tiff, tga, pcx, scr, emf, jif, vda, jfif, rgb, afi, vst, win, cel, jpe, rgba, pic, pcc, cut, ppm, pgm, pbm, sgi, rla, rpf, psd, pdd, psp, cur, targa, bw, tar, jfi, eps (preview), int, inta, fax, jng, mng, 411, wbmp, wbm, ani, pix, thm, g3f, g3n, jp2, j2k, jpc, jpx, j2c, j, rl4, rl8, sys, tim, g3, tpi, tpic, pnm, pxm, iri, iris, rppm, rpgm, rpbm, rpxm, rpnm, rpp, rpg, rpb, rpx, rpn, bpx, and wap.
The user interface couldn't be any easier, making use of icons wherever possible and keeping buttons to a minimum. This results in an uncluttered layout that allows the user to concentrate on the job at hand, rather than working out what everything does.
