GOVERNOR PATAKI UNVEILS $20 MILLION PROGRAM:

"NEW YORK MAIN STREET"
...
Governor George E. Pataki announced "New York Main Street", a $20 million program designed to put a shine on downtowns throughout the state. The program will help to spruce up and revitalize these communities
by funding building renovations, streetscape enhancements and downtown business or cultural anchors. The New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal and the Housing Trust Fund will administer the program. "Through a concerted State effort to bring the necessary technical resources to each community, coupled with the financial incentives needed to stimulate new investment on Main Street, communities across the State will have a unique opportunity to bring back their Main Street or downtown business district," said DHCR Commissioner Calogero . "This dynamic new program underscores the steadfast commitment of our Governor to foster community renewal through creative partnerships between State and local governments, not-for-profit organizations and private developers." The announcement took place in Saratoga Springs at the Gideon Putnam Hotel before an appreciative audience comprised of about 250 officials of the New York Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) during its' annual meeting.
