Native American Prophecies
Many people feel the birth of the Rainbow Family was foretold many, many years ago by various Native American tribes. Unfortunately, all of these tales are Oral Histories, so the specifics vary from version to version. About all we can do is compare the versions, and try to get the basic "feel" of the prophecy.
Warriors of the Rainbow
This prophecy is the one that has become famous as it fortells the birth of the "Rainbow Warriors", who will save the earth from environmental destruction. Many people feel that we are these Rainbow Warriors.
    The Rainbow Warrior
A short story about what it means to be a "Rainbow Warrior". This version comes from a farm in Ohio.
    Warriors of the Rainbow
This version comes to us from Lelanie Fuller Stone "The Cherokee Lady", who has published several book on Indian Herbal Medicine. This version she says was told to her as a young girl by here Grandmother.
Lakota Sioux Prophecies
    Black Elk's Vision
This is a summarization of Black Elk's vision as retold in the book "Black Elk Speaks". This talks alot about "Rainbows". and the Rainbow Tribe of many colors.
Hopi Prophecies
The Hopi prophecies are probably the most famous, as they talk about the "Age of Purification", and there are many people that believe the signs foretold in this prophecy have happened in the last 50 years or so.

Indian Sun Indian Sun is a Proud Member of the Indian Arts and Crafts Association- assuring the authenticity of Native America Arts Courtship and Marriage Customs of the Hopi A Hopi Young man or woman could look forward to a chance for flirtation with the person of fancy at gatherings held away from the village. The Hopi young adults would meet socially after the Kachina dances. On the way to the planned spot , the boys would hunt so they would have meat to offer the girls. The girls would bring food they had prepared themselves to share with their beloved. The girls would sometimes send their younger siblings over to fetch the boy they liked. Once a Hopi maiden chose the man that she wished to marry, she would offer him qomi . Qomi is sweetened cornmeal loaf. The Hopi maiden gave her qomi to a young man as a marriage proposal. By accepting it the male would become engaged to her. A hopi young man would propose to a maiden by preparing a bundle of fine clothing and white buckskin moccasins. He would leave the bundle at her doorstep and if she accepted it, she accepted him as her future husband. When a hopi couple became engaged to be married the male uncles of the groom would descend into the Kiva to begin the task of weaving the bride’s wedding gowns. The Kiva is an underground ceremonial chamber. A hopi bride would be presented with two gowns. One gown was for her wedding ceremony. The other is gown was rolled in a mat of woven reeds to be preserved until the bride’s death. It served as her burial gown.

Jewelry styles were different in every American Indian tribe, but the differences were less marked than with other arts and crafts, because jewelry and the materials used for making it (beads, shells, copper and silver, ivory, amber, turquoise and other stones) were major trade items long before European arrival in America. After colonization, Native American jewelry-making traditions remained strong, incorporating, rather than being replaced by, new materials and techniques such as glass beads and more advanced metalworking techniques. There are two very general categories of Native American jewelry Native American beadwork page for more information and pictures about different beading arts.

Mitakuye oyasin! We are all related! It isn't too late. We still have time to recreate and change the value system of the present. We must! Survival will depend on it. Our Earth is our original mother. She is in deep labor now. There will be a new birth soon! The old value system will suffer and die. It cannot survive as our mother earth strains under the pressure put on her. She will not let man kill her. The First Nation's Peoples had a value system. There were only four commandments from the Great Spirits: 1.Respect Mother Earth
